2gig ah ram
gf 9400 fx 512 mb graphic card

hey i was wondering if anyone can help me! i' m looking at building a home entertainment system! and i was wondering if anyone can give me.........info on the best Satellite receiver it has out there for there for a very resonable price! seeing i 'm going to be using it in the Caribbean (Trinidad exact)
! it must have unlimited channel listing!

if anyone can lead me 2 the best in all! i need! i will be truly greatfull

Welcome to the forum

When you say best satellite receiver, best for what exactly?

Picture quality, colours, speed of channel change, EPG, ability to control peripherals, i.e. Diseqc switches, motors, ability to card share, best sound, ability to blind scan, multiple tuners capability etc
 
Free to Air Channels only?

Or do you have some pay packages in mind?

HD capability?

Any other "must haves"?

im not really into paying for now! seeing! also must have a decent storage capacity!
 
If you are wanting to stream then you will be looking for a Linux based stb then presumably?

Well if your choice of best to is to stream then I cannot advise as I have no experience, however there are plenty of reviews available on the forum for you to read.

Unlimited channels listing as per post #1 is not as far as I am aware available
 
5000 or 10000 Channels seems to be par for the course nowadays.

Storage of channel data is as I understand it stored on a flash eeprom, I am not aware of any flash eeprom chips having unlimited storage capability.

I think you can achive "unlimited channels" of sorts by moving Var from the flash chip to the network

I had my DM500s set up so that Var is on my PC therefore it simply wont fill up (Var is on a 1Tb HDD) so I could in theory have as many channels as I like but that means I need to have the PC turned on and connected to the network for the box to work (if not the box returns to the default flash var and all channel data and customisation is lost untill the PC is turned on)

I found though that having Var on the network, channel changes where slow and box freezes common place, automatic transponder scans where also problematic too
 
One of thr best receivers at the moment is the s---er box if you cannot work the missing letters out dont buy one,i wont spell the word out dont know if its allowed on the forum here is a clue lots of them about now the cooler weather is here!!! if you buy one you will not regret it plenty of info around to get it up and running,best of luck
