Beware The Asian Hornet

Looks like a " standard European hornet "

European is half the size
 
Just need to make up some homemade wasp traps, cos they attract hornets too, just needs some 2L plastic bottles with the top cut off & inverted, some cheap, nasty red wine, water, washing up liquid and some wasps & hornets... :)
 
Sounds like heaven - can you lend me some flippers?

You rang! Any particular brands they like?
 
Just remembered, we had someone stay during one summer a few years back and they liked to sleep with the window open. Consequently a hornet began to frequent their room and obviously liking their company, began to build a nest from one of the beams. I supplied the guest with an extra large size aerosol of hornet killer which he sprayed around the room, making it uninhabitable to humans for 30 minutes. Effect on hornet...nil..."What should I do now?" he asked, " the can is almost empty"....to which I replied, "you could try throwing the aerosol at it"

I always prefer the " press the nozzle " then light the lighter approach, never fails!

This summer we've had loads of hornets around the house in Maidenhead in the early evenings. They are attracted to the light and bang and knock on the lounge windows all evening. Sometimes there might be 5 or 6 of them trying to get in.
 
Are you sure they're not Jehova's Witnesses?
