Option three, might be just to buy a non electric bike you like then purchase a front wheel kit eg eBay and then use a couple of small motorcycle batteries as the battery pack can be more then the price of a wheel and obviously weigh a lot more.

I looked into this possibility before buying an ebike kit, but they are too expensive.
Your suggestion is better.

I have narrowed it down to only foldable bikes, not electrical because of the weight.
Two brands are being considered
- Tern
- Dahon

A friend of mine told me he is very happy with his Dahon, but he never use it as foldable because this can affect the mechanical parts.
He gave me the address of where to buy it and it is not far from where I live.
Two models have the same price tag around 500 Pounds and the weight is about 12 kg which I suppose I can handle.
Please check the two possibilities
- Dahon Vitesse D8 (weight 11.2 kg)
Vitesse D8 – Dahon Folding Bicycles
- Dahon Mariner D7 (weight 11.8 kg)
Mariner D7 – Folding Bikes by DAHON

I suppose I shall need a lot of accessories, as these come without lights, speedometer, pump (the Vitesse has a pump hidden inside the seat shaft), lock, head protection, alarm for pedestrians. What else?
