Black Ultra LNB - Another Convert

Hmm I've never bothered to skew the lnb as using motorised dish thought it wasn't needed.

Maybe this is where I'm going wrong myself.

Wod, the skew I quoted was from the fixed 1M Gibi which is focused on 7°W. Sorry if I confused anyone. You're right the skew on a motorised set up should be mechanically applied when the motor turns.
 
On a movable dish the LNB should be set so that at the top of its arc it has zero skew. As the dish is moved around the arc the LNB will rotate relative to the ground so that it is correctly skewed.

Except for 28E I believe. Astra have "helpfully" set their satellites with some skew so that you don't have to twist the LNBs as much on fixed dishes. But Eutelsat haven't done it on their bird which can create a problem for our fringe recption members deciding how much to skew their LNB.

Is it just 28E or are there any other satellites like this?

Be serious man,Black Ultra twin cost here 20 euros and 15 euros single one... that hard become life in Spain ? :)

Mother´s Day surely.
 
Mother's Day in Britain on Sunday, and Father's Day in Spain on Monday, March 19th, which is St Joseph's Day. It's a bank Holiday in some regions, but not in Galicia this year. Anyway, getting back to the Black Ultra, the Twin interests me as according to Robbo its performance is on a par with the single, so I could use it to give a single feed each to a Freesat HD box and a Sky one.


Next time I'm due for a present, how about a C band LNB...
 
There is a twin and a quad. Is there one for three.
 
No, use a quad and leave one spare.

I like to leave a spare so that I can hook it up to the meter whenever the dish moves without having to remove any of the other cables. I suspected that there wasn´t a tri-lnb. Thank you Robbo.

would you recommend another quad for a multi-lnb set up over the black ultra?? i need 4 quads for a td88 for recieving 28.2e/23.5e/19.2e and 13e(although these slots could be changed) and im concerned about the width of the lnb as the black ultra,s seem a little wide and are side E/W on as opposed to N/S if you get my drift. regards mdt
 
You'd probably get away with using sky quads. Signal would be very slightly down due to feed horn mismatch, but it should work ok, and they're dirt cheap, and the heads are small ( visible wave Or zinwell i think is the brand on them)

The Quattro performs better than single, i have both and my Quattro coupled with a Spaun switch is slightly better than the single LNB
 
I was talking about the quad, never tried a Quattro.

I tried my AB7 reception in heavy rain yesterday afternoon and, contrary to expectations, only lost a handful of Channels.

As I only had a handful of solid ones anyway, prior to fitting the Black Ultra, one could say that the Black Ultra's premium performance is my rain margin.

Sadly, this does mean more or less 24/7/365 access to Fox and to Fox Movies.

Very well put. I was wondering exactly the same thing the other day while thinking about a motorised set-up.
