box settings?

Hi All
My Sky box has just packed up, great. And as I'm moving soon, I don't want to sort out another one, so I bought myself a Digital Satellite Receiver and now i want to know a few things.
I have to just work out how to programme this damn reciever , i made the mistake this afternoon of moving my dish about, the girlfriend kept saying, 'maybe the dish has moved, thats why it isn't working', wish I had not listened to her as usual....
The new receiver I bought was a cheapo one, €50 and is preset to a few satelites (Astra 19.2, Hot Bird 13, Turksat 1c, Sirius 2/3, Amos 1, Hellas Sat 2), but I think i have to change the settings manualy to get it to work with the Astra 28.2 settings, is that right?
What frequency do I need to put the setting to?
Polarisation?
Search Mode - Transponder? Or Satellite?

p.s. My girlfriend is desperate to watch stuff so I need this to be sorted for tomorrow afternoon, otherwise I'm dead!

OK, i think my SKy box has given up on me, but.... could it be...
I have some foreign guests staying with us at the moment, in the room where my Sky Box is, and mysteriously O-no the box is now not finding any signal, the code in the top right of the yellow message box is 29, what does that mean? could it be the thin window cable has been damaged by an obsessive window open and closer visitor? i'm at my wits end! it doesn't rain it pours!

easyest way to see if its your receiver simple try it on somebody elses dish

It all depends on what your girlfriend is wanting to watch, with the exception of free to air programs you can only watch FTV or subscription channels with a Sky receiver so I suspect you are dead!!!!
