what ya think? i'm gettin a cheapo digibox for my bedroom, and thought this aerial would do the business.
 
Too many variables to give you a good answer. Colchester can receive signals from more than one transmitter, where your house is and what is in between your room and the transmitter will make a huge impact on your reception.

Can you not take a feed from your main aerial?

Our main aerial is analouge, and in any case it'd be too much effortO-Ha

Sudbury is the transmitter around here, and apparently its good for all the channels. Me bedroom is at the back, thus the aerial can directly point at transmitter through the window. I suppose I'll only find out once I get it all hooked up:) .
 
Sounds like you may have a fighting chance then. :)

PS. Don't be taken in by the "You must have a new digital aerial" scam, if your existing aerial covers the correct frequencies and has an appropriate gain, it should be fine for digital.
 
Just thought i'd report back - couldnt get any of the ITV channels, oh dear! Gonna return the digibox, I cancelled the aerial when rolfw said a normal aerial will do as I already have one. At least I've given it a go.

Yeah, it's like I said, mux2 is outside your band, you will have a group B aerial. Do you get the weak muxes OK? film4 (D), Sky 3 (C), abc1 (A) (stronger, but 64AM)?
 
yep, just about in the clear, as long as the aerial was pointed the right way of course!

i dont know if your area is good for getting the signal, but where i live in the north east all i had to do was go to the pound shop and get an ariel for myself and my next door neighbour, some of these ariels that are £6, £7 or £10 pounds or even more are a waist of time, the pound ariels can be just as good.
