Browsing satellites serving the americas on LyngSat and intrigued to find far greater C-Band activity, why is this?

Also, did C-Band ever have its debut here in the UK or Europe even?

My Satellite Setup
A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.
My Location
UK
C band still available above Europe, though it lost out to the advent of Ku band in the late eighties.
The US is such a large picece of land, the smaller footprints offered by a Ku beam (at the time) meant there was little to compete with it. Additionally tropical areas are no go areas for the higher frequencies due to absorption of signal by the water content of the atmosphere.
