My Satellite Setup
GTMEDIA V8X - 110cm Triax on a Dark motor (34.5w to 70.5e)
My Location
Grays, Essex
Does anybody have a spare C120 lnb and freehorn that is no longer needed?

I've tried to re-install my prime focus dish and I can't still get more than 91% when pointing at Sky News (Thor 0.8w) and I suspect that the LNB is not working properly.

If you have one that you may no longer need, please let me know.

Thank you.

91% what? Strength? Quality?

How are you measuring it? If it's the Receiver itself, then the metering and AGC characteristics can often be misleading. One receiver I had treated all really big signals as a max of 74% Strength. Others are a little more generous.

it's a 120cm PF dish and the strongest reading is 14.71db SNR and 76% AGC - I'm checking straight from an Edision OS mini box. It's odd as the dish is pretty much performing worse than my other 110cm offset dish.

What make of dish feed ?

and model if there is more than one

Btw the dish looks badly bent (last image highlights the distortion )

The feed it's an IRTE feed and the LNB is an Inverto White Tech. I've done the string test and the strings met in the middle without a gap but will do it again tomorrow.

Not worried bout the meeting , take some images of the Reflector where both edges align

Sides, at 45 degrees from the ground and directly underneath.

Also tried to get other sats and could only catch from 33e to 5w - with 28.2e being 20db and 5w being over 16db - even though I expect them to be this strong, I assume there is something wrong with the elevation / declination

I've always found the skew setting to be critical on 1W. A tiny error can lose a dB or few due to interference from the opposite polarisation.

It's really odd, I've taken the dish out and re-aligned it - now I can get most sats from 60e (cannot seem to get 39e and 21.1e) to 5w (cannot get anything past this) but I can't still get more than 14.7db on Sky News (0.8w). Could this be an elevation/declination issue?

That, and the depolariser in the feed, unless you have aligned it perfectly, or removed it.

If not sure, I can swop it for the 'ice cream' feed for the cost of postage.

But what is the outcome of the string test, with multiple strings?
That looks like an issue, that should be taken care of first?

i dont know about anyone else, but isnt 14.7db about right for Sky news on 1w - my STB reports 94% / 97% which equates to 14.47db (1.2m dish)

The dish was pretty damaged so it's in storage now but on the 120cm Channel Master, I get around 16.23db tops with an Inverto Black Ultra LNB.

interesting, even more evidence that my laminas is not performing at optimal

with a Laminas 1200 ,Motorized from 75 ° East to 40 ° West I receive Skynews with 14.3 dB
and I think my Antenna is correctly installed (for an antenna with a motor)
having a reception of more than 14dB is already good I think.
