Hi
Has any one had problems with insects getting inside the feedhorn causing reception problems ? Is it possible to cover the open end with a mesh ?
Phil

That problem is not confined to C120s !!

hello,
yes bugs, spiders will lower the signal for sure.
most feed horns have a plastic cap on the opening
you can take some plastic bag and cover the opening and wrap the feed horn opening and tape it arround the sides.
do not use mesh or anything metalic.

Thanks one and all.
I managed to cut a piece of plastic mozzy net and glue it on the end. This was after i tried a magnet to test for metal. Probably have the RSPA on to me for making a bug homeless.

Here's a picture of the proper cover. If you can't find anything else you can use expanded polystyrene.

Huevos, can you buy these, or is it just a bung that happens to fit.
I have fitted many C120´s but never been supplied with one of these.

They come with the feedhorn. Every time I'm in my supplier I ask them to give me a few extra because most dishes don't have them installed so I get through lots. But like I said above expanded polystyrene squeezed in there works just fine and doesn't affect the meter reading at all.

Another one I see sometimes is an Evian cap fitted over the inner scalar ring.
