I have two Pannies - one is OK the other is sort of busted; as most of you will no doubt know.

Having heard that the new software update will fix the channel sticking/standby thing I dragged the old boogger out of the cupbaord and went through the usual download rigmarole. It took just over ten minutes. The system details that came back were not as my replacement Panny30 ??

My old box has a Version Number 0F0202 - while my replacement box is Version Number 0F0203.

So a question to those with a working 0F0202 model: do your system details now look like those in the attachment.

Thanks in advance.

Mark.

000526****

*** *** ***

Hope this helps :)

Mine is model 2.2.75 Version 0F0201, the other details are the same as yours and my set works fine. I hope that may help.

Sorry, the software update certainly didn't cure the fault on my panny 30 - I've just Ebayed to a UK user who won't be affected by the problem!

Doesn't look like where going to get anywhere with this, does it :-(

I will be the first to claim ignorance about the importance of the Model No. & Version No. codes. All I do know is that the Version No. appears alongside the Serial No. on the back of the STB and that the Model No. happens to change with every new download: which is about as useful as knowing that a large egg will taken some seconds longer to hard-boil than it does to hard-boil a small one.

As some have intimated the problem is not software orientated: its an overheat problem, stupid. As such, I'll try a fan (and bit my lip;) ).

Sod it! If the fan gets the booger going again - I'll eat egg sarnies for the rest of my life.

Thanks for the input guys.

Mark.

Indeed, it can freeze-up at the point of applying mains: but that doesn't help me at all.

What I ommited to say in my original post (coz I ramble too much) is that the last time I got the box out, I successfully forced a software download (or at least the STB appeared to successfully go through the motions of one). I then managed to enjoy almost FOUR HOURS of Channel Five.

It instantly froze on a channel change (so I didn't get chance to write down the EPG/SYS nonsense for that box.

However, given the info supplied so far from members, I does make me wonder that with so many Vers. Variants (sic) on just the Panny - I wonder where BSKYB's engineers actually draw the line in software/EPG support.

I mean, while its a lovely STB the Panny30 is old, has been superceeded twice? and doesn't have a hard drive. Euww, and what about that SONY STB? Do those owners even get updates? ..... Do they still make it?

Have Fun,

Mark.

Re Sony

No, Sony stopped making digiboxes a year or so ago. We do still get updates but are invariably at the back of the queue.

PaulR - still waiting for the new EPG on his Sony 750
