Can anyone offer advice configuring a portable dish on a balcony for Astra?
Thanks for all of the advice. I was away for a couple of days, and started playing with the dish again. Unfortunately this time I have been unable to receive anything over the course of two days - hoping that I haven't broken the LNB somehow! Anyhow, as suggested right at the beginning of the thread, here are some images that may hopefully illustrate how I'm trying to set up the dish. Before I got the dish, I was hoping to receive a signal over the top of the obstructing building to the Southeast, but in theory this may be impossible and I may need to look at other more creative options - entirely open to suggestion here! The picture I've attached shows the exact position of my balcony on dishfinder, and the lines to Thor (which I was able to receive), Hotbird and Astra 2. I've attached a picture of the obstruction to the South East, and directly to my right as I look out on the balcony, it appears my neighbour has a dish pointed at Astra 2. Assuming that this is receiving a good picture, this would indicate that it must be possible. I have indicated my neighbour's dish with a pink dot on the dishfinder diagrams, and there is a (bad) picture of that setup too. Hoping that someone may have some insight or encouragement here - even if it's just a no chance at all! Thanks for all of your continued help!
