Advice Needed Can i mix a monoblock with a switch?

I want to set up my old 1M Gib with a multifeed and four way disecq switch but is it possible to hang a monoblock off one of the ports seeing as I have a spare 4.3° model for 19/23°?
 
I think a lot depends on your receiver, I have read that someone has done this, using an Enigma 2 receiver, in advanced settings, but I can't remember how it was set up.
I know you can run a motorized system, and fixed dish set up, through a 4 way diseqc switch.
 
I'll have to forget my plan to use the monoblock, I was sure the Samsung had 1.1 control on it but it's just 1.0 and tone A/B (plus motor control) although I guess I could still use it along with a splitter hanging on ports 1 and 2.

As for tone A/B control, is this simply 22kHz making it incompatible with Ku band LNBs?
 
Indeed, combining two ports (internally or externally) of a 4/1 1.0 switch is also possible.
Or combining the monoblock with a diseqc 1.2 operated switch.

Tone A/B would be toneBURST or "mini-diseqc" or a few similar names.
As diseqc 1.0 material (such as a monoblock) is usually downwards compatible with toneburst, you usually cannot use it as a separate switching mode.

I'm still confused with 22kHz switches! If I use one with two universal LNBs does it mean one will only work in low band and one in high or is it a different protocol at the same 22kHz frequency so I'll get full coverage on each universal? I've been googling but can't find the answer.

The splitter idea works fine on the monoblock so that allows me to reuse spare parts to good effect.

The bracket I have is designed for the 1M Gibertini and fits well but the LNB bar is horizontal rather than adjustable or skewed, to make set up easier I want to set the slope angle closer to what it should be (all sats will be east of south) but what angle is it? Presume there's a calculation for it depending on latitude but I've no idea which one!

A 0/22 kHz switch is indeed incorporated in a universal LNB, where it switches from low band to high band.
So your assumption (cited in bold) is correct. :)

Easiest approximation is mean (theoretical) skew-angle for the two most outwards satellites of your setup, for your location (LAT and LONG).
I say theoretical skew, as opposed to actual skew; as some satellites have pre-skew, and SOME calculators take the preskew into account, and others don't (they don't always mention this!) :( .
Dishpointer, IIRC, mentions "special case" for the pre-skewed value, added to the theoretical skew value.

No, excuse me, it is the Satlex (Az/El) calculator (not dishpointer) that gives theoretical AND actual (if applicable) skew.

(Haven't used that calculator for some time, as I have my own calculator now... :) )

Thanks A33, I'll go look for that tomorrow. Any skew will be better than none and there's enough images online to give me a good idea but getting it correct would certainly help speed up the alignment process.
