I would slightly disagree with that: Prodelin made 1,8m antennas with f/d 0,8 and 0,6 but never with f/d=0,52.that is has an f/D nearer 0.8 than 0.6
- f/d 0,8- is long-focus antenna
- f/d 0,6 - is normal-focus antenna (opening angle ~80* , should work good with any universal LNB, e.g IBU, and will be little bit overilluminated)
- f/d 0,5- short-focus antenna (perhaps NSC, with opening angle 88* will also work with IBU and be not fully illuminated, as we know that IBU has 84* illumination angle)
If we go further that next one will be f/d= 0,4 - which is usual PFA.
More likely, 1,8m antennas with f/d ratio 0,8-0,6-0,5-0,4 will perform more or less same if they are used with appropriate feedhorn, calculated and fabricated in such way that it's illumination angle is exactly the same as antenna's opening angle. Basically, f/d can be easily converted to degrees f/d0,52=88*, f/d0,4=120* and so on.Is it any good?
I have suspicion that dual-reflection antennas (main mirror) have f/d ratio about 0,5, so this NSC antenna equipped with sub-reflector from FIBO dish will be illuminated properly and can bring some good performance of system.
I do not know what kind of mesh is inside the plastic, hopefully it has small eyes.
