Not satellite receiver I know, but somebody has offloaded me three mains drills, having replaced their van stock with Bosch units.

Whilst they are about three / five years old and mechanically sound , they are all intermittent operation simply due to breaks in the mains flex (now replaced) and a distinct lack of carbon left on the brushes. Each brush appears to be unique in shape and contour to the rotor.

Does anyone know of a general tool parts supplier that sells brushes based on make/model, a dedicated brush company that can pull them off a shelf, or do I have to go to each manufacturer independently for the replacement parts ?

No satellite stuff for the moment (aside from a 43cm minidish that was on the house already), Samsung SyncMaster T27B550 Smart TV & Monitor, and a few computers...

Don't forget to get a commutator cleaner stick to clean the commutator and seat the new carbons, this will keep them working in tip-top condition... :)

(It's basically the same thing as with a Kirby motor, so I do know what I'm on about!!! :p )

Thanks, the site above does not deal with hand drills but slightly larger power tools.

The main unit that would be nice to get running would be the AEG branded one.

Any advice ?

If you can't find a source... make them... from other (slightly larger) carbon brushes ... very easily filed to shape and connectors changed if need be.. works 100% ... if you really get stuck try washing machine brushes.

Just "Googled" carbon brushes for AEG tools - came up with loads. Below is a specimen.
