Vu uno, VU Duo2, sky dish, 2 zone 2 dishes for 19.2 and 23.5. Satlink meter, rover STCeu meter. Tripod with a dish for messing around.

Hi all.

My mate has a sky (pace) Italia box and a sky Calcio card in it. He payed just over £1000 for them. The sky card has a small C next to the chip which i believe makes it a NDS 3.

He has had the crd for about 4 months and it has stopped working. I said i would have a look for him.

When you turn the box on it loads up but gives italian messages which would indicate that the card has expired. Is there any method of testing the card to see if it is expired, or bust.

I personally have a dreambox 500s. i have tried running it in there under newcs but only for a couple of seconds as i have heard this can melt these cards. i also have a USB infinity Phoenix, capable of 6mhz.

There is a long number on the card like a serial number is there any way of using that to test it online? The guy he bought this rig from has gone bust!

The card and the box have to be matched.
The fact that it worked for four months indicates that he got a matched system, but he is under the mercy of the third party who got the money in advance for one year and he probably stopped the monthly payment to Sky Italia.
Suggest to request the help of someone living in Italy so that he can contact Sky Italia and ask for reactivation (need the box and card number) or at least find out the reason for it not working.
 
Thanks. i thought these subs where pre paid? i have seen them on the likes of Al*at where you pay a one of fee of say 1000 and you get a 12 month sub.

Do they just pay it monthly for you?

The card and the box are defo paired. What i was hoping to do was pop the card in to my DM 500s, install Newcs and check in the entitlements page to see the expiry and so on. but for the life of me it will not read just says no card.
 
sky italia do not do pre paid cards, its not like digitalb or anything like that. There will be a monthly subscriber who pays for the card and like said before, if someone hasnt payed for a month, then sky will switch off
 
Does anyone know of a reputable company that sell the calcio packages? as he would like to re subscribe.

It would be better to wait for a while until he gets to the bottom of this.
No point in taking the risk again, especially with such outrageous prices outside Italy.
Can you tell us exactly when did the card stopped working?
It might be related to the movement of many Sky Italia transponders from Hot Bird 7A to Hot Bird 9 this week.
Ask him to try to delete all the SKY Italia channels and do a full scan again and then try it in HIS box.

I have got his sky italia box in my house and have tried it on my motorised system. it all seems to be working in terms of, it picks up the EPG etc. but when i goto calcio i get an error that says along the lines of to subscribe call this number.

Did you try to delete the channels and scan again?
Can you open all other channels in the package (Mondo+Sport for example) and only the Calcio shows error message?
 
Looks like your m8 has been had. Before Christmas Sky Italia introduced their 'Christmas box', watch all channels (Sport & Calcio included) for 3 months at €15 a month. Then after 3 months, if there has been no contact between client and Sky cs the pack would automatically be reduced to Mondo + Cinema (if memory serves me right, could be just mondo) and a 12 month contract or the client could just ring up and cancel altogether.
And just to clarify, Sky Italia does not pair box and card like Sky UK does.
