If using DCC you just open up the two file locations - DM500 & computer - , highlight the file to be transfered and click the green arrow to transfer from one to the other.

Why are you using copy & paste?

What folder are you putting the cccam.cfg file in your DM500

When you right click the file (whilst in DCC, left hand window) and select view, what do you see.

You could use a FTP program to the file, and open it with computer notepad. Just copy and paste the infor, and close it.

Yes, Filezilla is a good one, been using it for years. I actually use the view/edit function of the filezilla to open the file in ultraedit (you need to tell the Filezilla which program you would like to use as a standard editor, in the options), and then when I finished editing it it will automatically update the file. Never had a problem.

So to repeat:

1/ The original file is showing in the right hand pane as 5KB
2/ When you double click on the file in the right hand pane (or click view) you see the c line
3/ You click the green arrow pointing to the left
4/ It says File CCcfg already exists - do you want to overwrite ?
5/ You click Yes
6/ You right click on the CCcam file in the left hand pane and select view

And you see a blank file ?

Are you really sure.

PS - The file should not show as 5 kb if all it contains is one c line of text.

I can think of no explanation, all sounds very curious. I assume you have already checked that var used space isn't at or near 100%

I could go on suugesting you tes other things, for instance you could transfer a simple dummy.txt file into the /var/etc folder in your DM500 and see if that transfers correctly.

In the end it is probably easier to reload the image from scratch and start again. Although that won't explain what has caused the problem.
