changing the hard drive

has anyone changed the hard drive of there pvr? i would like to upgrade mine but im not to sure if its possible. ive got an xtreme 40gb pvr and im finding it to small.
 
I've changed the hd in a manhattan 7000, fortecstar and a topfield4000 all successfully. 40gb is too small, you want at least 80gb or better still 120gb as i have. All work fine using either a seagate or maxtor hd with 7200rpm spin speed.
 
thanks, ive seen 120 gb for about £80. ill keep the forty and stick it in my pc which is already 80 gb. thatll give me 120 in total
 
is it possible to plug the harddisk into the computer and read the contents of the recording?
So that recorded video can be saved on DVD

no its wont work, its a different format

There is a special computer program for doing this with the Topfield (see: http://topfield.mira.lu/ ) so there might be one for the Xtreme. I suggest you search the xtreme BBS (http://www.xtreme-stb.com/) and the net.
