Could I change the tuner of my 7020 to a more sensitive one for better view?? If yes which one do you recomend? and is it easy to change it??

The tuner of my db500 is getting better services
Thank you

The tuner s on DM's can be changed but as far as I am aware there are not any manufacturers of more sensitive tuners for them

I remember 7020 came with Philips and ALPS tuners with the former being more sensitive. But I don't know whether the tuners are plugged into a socket or soldered onto a motherboard.

well I think mine is one of the firts so it must be a philips and the tuner is soldered on the motherboard but it is possible to change it. I see several sites with parts but...could i put the tuner of a latests model?

I don't see why you couldn't - if you can unsolder the old tuner from the motherboard.

Thank you for your help do you know which one from this link??: _http://www.alps.com/WebObjects/catalog.woa/E/HTML/Tuner/Tuner_list1.html
TDA series?

Dunno - I had 2 separate 7020's with different tuners. Looking from that page though, doesn't look like any of them. They seem to be more for terrestrial reception.

Many years ago I did some research and found that the tuners were not interchangeable.
The original 7020 was the 7020s and then the later was the 7020si
The tuner is soldered on and was a pig to change.
One of the other reasons for the loss of signal strength is the psu could be on the way out. ( Another common problem ).
All parts can be purchased from German suppliers.

I'll check the site with the parts

Thank you again

Need to find out if it comes from the tuner or the psu. does it describes the way to find out if the tuner or the psu is the reason for low signal??

Check the caps on the psu and look to see if they have popped.
psu is easier to change than the tuner.

Ill try to upload photos of the tuner ant the psu too. the psu seems to be ok. on the tuner I can not see if it is a philips ,
ref on the tuner: SU1278/LV-2

Oh, yes!

Clearly shown embossed bottom left.

I must admit I had to search for it carefully but once found it is obvious. Can't see the wood for the trees.
