Hi,
If I replace the tuner module in an original DM800 with one from a clone will it pass the genuine tests and boot up ok?
Thanks

Hello!
no i think on every clone, the typ of the tuner is not the same!
you can try but i think it will not work!
clone manufactors want to save money in mass production, this is the reason why the use cheaper components!

in one word same same but diffrent:)

Yes:)
you can buy this kind of tshirt, with same same,in asia on every street corner, here this word comes from.)

but be aware to buy such kind of tshirt, usally the use cemical colors ,where you can got a allergie desies from, imitates in clothes can be dangerous for the health..!

Umm, not the reply I was expecting.
I have both units, there isn't much difference in quality, they are both built in China I expect. The remotes are different as the clone doesn't support JP1 reprogramming.

I expect the tuners are electrically the same, I am trying to establish if there is software check using firmware within the tuner. You know like the MAC number check on the DM500.

I guess I will have to get my toolbox out and just try it.

hello!
i know only about the dreambox 500 and here,on my clone,i have like a blindscan tuner,on turksat it founds exact the same number of channels also with low symbolrates then a real blindscan receiver, with a normal dm i dont can use blindscan!
when you open the box,you can see the diffrence in the tuner, there are many clone factorys in china not only one,all of them are a little bit diffrent in details!

Hasn't the results from a blind scan got more to do with the settings in your satellites.xml file?

I also have two DM500's an original from about 2003 and a clone from about 2008. The picture on the clone is far superior, probably due to the fact that the component manufacture have improved so much in that time.

I don't think I'm going to get an answer about the DM800 tuner so will just try it.
