Getting there :)

This week need to clean and paint CM polarmount, been a bit wet here so have been painting my tonearm for turntable.
Arms are going to be metalic silver, the one I painted came out lovely.

Stand sorted, Thanks RimaNTSS
Now just need to get:
Actuator
36v controller

This dish is going to live on my TBS 5520SE and the PC, that way I can keep my 1m Gibby for watching TV.

Firstly well done to @RustySpoons for undertaking this project, I'm sure it will be very worthwhile. :Y

I'm yet to embark on my "project" if you would call it that, I bought my 1m CM two years ago ready for if and when I buy my own place, another year but hopefully not much longer.
I have been finding this thread interesting to read and am taking particularly interested in the polar mount and actuator. I wanted to ask @RimaNTSS what the purpose of the rubber seal is; would this have been supplied with the polar mount or the actuator? As I don't seem to have anything like that when my equipment was delivered.

@RustySpoons I've found rubber seal, it was on 35mm actuator buddy, so should also fit on yours. Also L-shaped piece which is not original CM BTW. Also it is not original on your mount. View attachment 115761 Original piece should look like this View attachment 115760..... well, with no rust :(
So, if you wish, you can have what I've circled in yellow on first picture. You pay shipping.

@statalite Do not worry, rubber seal it is just piece of rubber which prevents entering water inside the actuator. I circled those seals in red. 201209211223496383.png
If you have new actuator that there is no problem with seal.

It was a different seal that had gone on my one, I have circled it here, but does not matter as the actuator is too rusty to save :(Inked201209211223496383_LI.jpg

Ow, that one! I misunderstood you yesterday. Another piece of rubber....little bit bigger. o_O
Yes that one you circled on your "SuperJack" picture is actually plastic on this "SuperPowerJack" I dont think it did much as it was full of rust :-rofl2

Not quite the dish! But decided to paint my Tonearm today, it was black originally.
This is the same paint I am using for the LNB arms on the CM, Lidl "Rim Paint"

Looking at ordering a actuator.
For the CM 1.2m what size SuperJack shall I go for, 12" or 18"?
Also what controller is recommended, Vbox II, Gbox or something else?

Looking on HM-Sat.de for the SuperJack, I'm making the assumption these are genuine?

As you have the polar mount it would make sense to go with it and an actuator. However, if you get the chance of a second hand Jaeger 1224 H to H motor they are an ideal alternative option as a mount and motor for a Channel Master 1.2m dish. When they were in production they came with a metal plate that was designed to mount a 1.2m Channel Master dish.

I think the 1224 is like hens teeth these days, would be nice if I can find one. Maybe one day :)

A new Channel Master is an off white, certainly not grey.

You're not scrubbing hard enough.

The colour code I have came from some information provided by Channel Master that someone posted up. (Or whoever owned them) and that pantone code is a very light grey.

There are bits on the front you can see the fibreglass where the paint has worn away. So would like to paint it. If I scrub harder that will make things worse...

Scrubbing wasn't literal.

I can see the Channel Master reflector in the garden is as white as white can be, though this may be down to fifteen years of UV bleaching (or pigeons).

So some "Inox" has arrived today, bolts for the dish. That's so much easier than typing Stainless Steel!
Just one more set to arrive, also I have a box of "Inox" washers, I picked these up in Lidl the other week.
People will start to think this is Channel Master sponsored by Lidl!

Going to get hold of a Vbox and build a Wi-Fi interface for it, might even build a Wi-Fi to Diseqc as a standalone interface as well if I get chance.
Will probably go down the ESP8266 route as I have a few of them here, cheap and easy to buy and I know how to programme them :)

Hi - If you have unrestricted space behind the dish .... i would go for the 18" jack .. with a bigger jack you can always use a different fixing position (non Central) on the mount . to get a better arc and more stability when fully extended.
That is until you get that Jaeger 1224 H to H motor ..:) which has to be without a doubt the best thing for a 1.2 Channel master....

Thanks Nelson, ok 18" then :)
It's all going to be mounted on heavy concrete posts I have here, need to get a new disk for the angle grinder.
I should be able to move it around if needed.

Think I need to add some keywords to my eBay so it finds 1224's for me when they come up...

That sounds ok then .... handy to have it moveable

I had to wait quite a while to find a 1224 but was lucky to find a new one ... at a price l.o.l.
took me a year or two to get round to installing it ...
Channel Master 1.2 (inverted) on Jaeger 1224
i am more than happy with the result of time spent though .... :)
