Hi guys, i have a channel master 1.8m

I want to make it motorised if possible? Just to switch between a couple of satellites...

Can I do it or is it to big a dish? Not a problem i will just buy another dish for the wall.

I have attached pictures of my setup, as i took them i noticed the pole was very rusty, so i got some engine paint i use to spray engine blocks etc, good stuff, no priming needed etc and now it looks nice :)

So what is the Actuator for .................. ?

yes but i dont have it setup, thats the mounting stuff i got with my 1.2 channel master but my mate welded a bracket to mount the 1.8 as you can see.

but i have never used the actuator and not sure how?

Sorry if i dont know.... :(

Ah, I see.

That background info should help the Actuator experts, when they finally get out of bed.

cheers,

sorry its been at fixed 7w since i got it so was just wondering how i make it motorised, i cant see any plugs etc for the actuator so wasnt sure

to move the dish you need a vbox linked to your satellite receiver and move the dish via diseqc 1.2 which the vbox converts to the commands which will move the actuator.

that dish is very heavy the mounting you have made will need to be beefed up and swap the actuator for a heavy duty one.

I see your after the football, you sure 1.8 is going to be still enough to get reception you might have to go up to 2.4 or even 3metre which I dont think will fit in the area your current dish is

you need to take the black box off the bottom of the actuator and wire up some 4 core cable to move the dish with a postioner (vbox) linked to your satellite receiver or you can use it in manual mode

to make it motorised you will then need to realign the dish to 1west which with that size will be no problem, do you have a meter to do that ?

im not sure yet as no one has any info as to where AD sports 7w will be broadcast, i got showtime fine. and people are saying if you got showtime you will get AD sports, but if they go on AB4A then i have no chance :(

a 2.4m wont go, im at my limit really :( So im hoping.

However there is other options, viasat 5e etc so i shal see

what about getting 2 packages if you can afford it as sky italia or canal digital 1 west etc will show alot of games 3pms and the like. do you need to have every game ?

you might need to raise the dish up also if your to get some of the satellite arc.

I need every game yeah, i know sky italia and canal digital will show alot of games, however they always show the same games. I need the games that these do not show.

Im trying to find out where AD sports is going on 7W, people are saying it wont be AB4A but i have no idea, nor does it seem any of the installers do!

How can they release a card in 5 days time and not have any proof of where the feeds will be?!? its stupid!

Unless you fit a counterbalance, the bearings in the mount are not going to last long.

You may need to consider an 18 or 24 inch actuator.

Ok guys, I was just considering it but only as i didnt want to buy another dish, but for the price i might aswell get another dish on the wall for the basic satellites :)
