Chasing Midnight New Years Eve 2012

From a BBC news report:

Celebrations will also be held for the first time in Burma, where large public gatherings were banned by its previous military rulers.
Tens of thousands are expected to attend the celebrations in Rangoon, which will feature a fireworks display and performances by Burmese entertainers.
Reports say the festivities will be broadcast live on Burmese television.

Burma / Myanmar are on an odd offset - +6.5 = and MRTVi 13E might be a chance if they stay on air long enough

India (+5.5) will be subdued this year after the tragic death of the young lady earlier this week - various celebrations have been cancelled around the country

Note re: Iraqis. I was just channel surfing through Arabic language broadcasters and noticed Al-Iraqiya is having flag with text "Iraq Day" superimposed on screen. So I started googling and found out like it looks like some of the celebrations we saw at the beginning of this year may have been related with U.S troops pullout, which co-incided with New Year. We'll see what'll happen this year.

It will be interesting to see if the Snow Maiden is featured much in the neighbouring countries coverage.

She had a record amount of appearances last year.

Found the maiden :-rofl2

Much fun and frivolity on TV Nadym on 53E. Grandfather Frost & the Snow Maiden pouncing on unsuspecting pedestrians :D

Shes not much of a looker - shes a bloke :-lmao

Sky News has a yellow ticker that they will be taking the Sidney.

Thats more like it :D

BBC News just carried a little - they are more interested in the Yankland fiscal crisis

Avoid CNN International. They have been simulcasting with Domestic all afternoon today and I don't think new year across the world is a priority. At least when I checked CNNI some 30 seconds in, they were not showing Sidney but talking about Hillary Clinton's health. Sky News definitely the go-to channel this hour. Powerful show as usual.

SIgh... now Sky is cutting away, directing people to Sky Active!

Great coverage of Sidney on Sky News.

Arirang in South Korea now on air with New Year's Eve Special. An hour and 48 minutes to go

Better than last year.

Japan should be good.

Not much for +10 at 2pm so its Japan & Korea for 3pm +9

Just found my first rendition of the Abba classic Happy New Year - in Russian on TV Nadym again :-rofl2

KSB World is live with some award show, not sure if'll carry anything to do with New Years.
