7 weeks to Christmas so its time to think about the annual end of year forum fun.

Yes its only November but some folks might want to set some extra kit up and with the short days might need a dryish weekend to set up.

(And anyway its only a matter of time until someone asks about it!) :-rofl2

If you havent seen the annual lunacy before basically it works like this - we start with midnight in Auckland at lunchtime uk time (using the coverage from one of the fta news channels) and work steadily westwards around the globe hour by hour seeing what sort of ceremonies and fireworks we can find in assorted countries. We have a few drinks, a bit of banter on the forum, and just generally have a bit of a laugh and enjoy the various ceremonies..

If you havent joined in before most of the channels we use are on Hotbird 13E. Most of the channels we get reports on are fta so anyone can watch, although some folks kindly provide info about whats happening on a few of the encrypted channels.

Ive got a dish on 53E this years so if the weather isnt too evil I will be having a look at what is happening in Uzebekistan in the 1900 "dead hour" where not a lot happens elsewhere.

Temporarily made a sticky so its easy to find

Ive closed the thread and will reopen it towards the middle of December for further discussion :)

Same procedure as last year?? ;) :-worship

Remlap has kindly provided his annual chart of the round up of last years fun:

Seems like its a yearly thing for Geo News to go clear on 28.5E

Any chance eNCA will carry anything?

No idea - might be worth having a look at - cant remember ever seeing anything from South Africa on NYE before.

Did we get round to having a look at Net25 from the Phillipines last year? (UK +8)

And now I can hear a large glass of whisky calling me, so Im calling it a day

After a bit of tinkering with the dishes, and going through a lot of zip ties Ive managed to add 5E back into the system. I lost access to this one when I realigned the Penta onto 7E a few months back, and then what with the short days and continual rain arriving, further experimentation was halted.

The European beam of Astra 4A is perfect with the lnb zip tied to the 10E lnb. Nothing on the 4ANordic beam but thats always been very very marginal here anyway an my battered dishes

Looking at the weather coming, looks like its a good idea to get ready early.

Thats one of the reasons I always start these threads nice and early - to give folks a chance to set up any extra equipment they may want during the always uncertain weather conditions.

A few years ago the glae force winds knocked no end of our dishes out of alignment during NYE - I rememeber being outside in horrendous conditions trying to get enough signal back on the 13E dish to carry on with the fun :D

More tyres then

:-rofl2

Spare tyres are hidden under the hedgeline. As are the spare zone 1 dishes :D

ESTV or Universal Tv @13e may be an option for South Africa, never looked on NYE before but there is always a first.

Yes looked and there a few Somalian FTA channels on there. There websites arn't showing schedules that far in front just yet.
