3 weeks to Christmas so its time to think about the annual end of year forum fun.

Yes its only the start of December but some folks might want to set some extra kit up and with the short days might need a dryish weekend to set up.

(And anyway its only a matter of time until someone asks about it!) :-rofl2

If you havent seen the annual lunacy before basically it works like this - we start with midnight in Auckland at lunchtime uk time (using the coverage from one of the fta news channels) and work steadily westwards around the globe hour by hour seeing what sort of ceremonies and fireworks we can find in assorted countries. We have a few drinks, a bit of banter on the forum, and just generally have a bit of a laugh and enjoy the various ceremonies.. Its all very light hearted, and folks dip in and out during the day.

If you havent joined in before most of the channels we use are on Hotbird 13E. Most of the channels we get reports on are fta so anyone can watch, although folks sometimes kindly provide info about whats happening on a few of the encrypted channels.

Temporarily made a sticky so its easy to find

Ive closed the thread and will reopen it towards the end of December for further discussion :)

Same procedure as last year? ;) (If you dont understand this reference you haven't played along with us before!)

Everyone is welcome to chip in so if you are around on New Years Eve please drop in & say hello - theres normally at least half a dozen of us do most of the day & loads of other stop by to see what we are finding at various points.

As usual remlap has kindly provided a handy spreadsheet with frequency info on it with what may be available:

Things do change from year to year - half the fun of the chase is seeing what we can find :)

Schedules for 'Dinner for One' on German satellite television follow shortly.

Dinner For 1 timings are now up on the tvtv.de website. As usual its being shown more or less continually one one channel or another for several hours from about 1800 Germany time.

However heres the bonkers Dinner Fur Brot from Kika channel :D

The first few minutes are in German but its easy enough to follow even if your German is as bad as mine

GMT +5:30 - Rupavahini - the first channel from the national broadcasting station from Sri Lanka is a new entry

Hotbird 11179H 27500 3/4

Good change from this year is that Moscow is no longer clashing with Dubai. They are back to 2100 UTC. Although I'll take my chances with Iraq instead. Also, from Germany I think I will follow whatever goes out on hr from Hessen as I happened to visit that state in July(Eschwege region in particular) and now feel a special connection to it. Plus, I've friends there.

Just saw German schedules and it turns out that hr is not having anything live at midnight, so I guess I'll take either WDR as prior years or ARD or ZDF.

For any 80's music fans,Channel One Russia on Hotbird, will be showing Disco 80,as usual from 11.00pm (GMT)
TVP Polonia on Astra 1 and Hotbird usually features international artists from yesteryear,on its live Silvester concert from 9.00pm (GMT).

If anyone has any suggestions for webstreams please post them and I'll add them to the streaming tab of the spreadsheet.

Also has NDTV 24x7 or News 18 marked the event previously?

Dubai Feeds are already up on 7e.

11000 V 4929 8/9 DVB-S2 8PSK + 11012 V 4937 3/4 DVB-S2 8PSK

Can't remember seeing any organised event,in the past.
They might show some Bollywood celebrity event most likely,if at all.

If anyone misses the Dubai fireworks tomorrow,or they just want a second viewing,Samaa Dubai,on Hotbird, usually has a repeat showing.
