No idea what the BIOS password is, not sure why it's done it, although the issue crops up on Intel forums for their server boards. I did manage to generate a static charge last night whilst on the PC, was wearing a pair of trousers which I wouldn't normally wear and they obviously build up static, will take the PC apart later and look at the mother board spec.

There should be a jumper reset to clear down a bios password (on most motherboards I have used).

Will have it up on the desk later this evening, not sure that a simple reset will work, as apparently, when the boards were current, they replaced some under warranty for this error. Will update later.

Who setup a BIOS password???? It's not normally set on most PC's.

Simply clearing the password may not have done it Channel Hopper, apparently it's a known issue, even if the case intrusion sensor jumper is not fitted, it can still signal a report and require action.

Don't know Terry, but it kept asking for one and it wasn't the default of admin.

Having said that, opened the case up and found the Motherboard number, then the handbook and the reset jumper.
Intel DQ67SW

http://download.viglen.co.uk/files/Motherboards/DQ67SW_DQ67OW/Manuals/DQ67SW/DQ67SW_Manual.pdf Page 55, which after moving the jumper on the reset over to pins 1 and 2, allowed me into the BIOS, in which I stopped logging Case intrusions and then after saving, reset the jumper back to 2 and 3.

All back working. :) Don't know what caused it, but think it was perhaps a belt of static.

Yes, first thought was ransom ware, but quickly discounted it when I found the specific message on several discussions.:)

It still may happen again if you have the pins on the MB for the case intrusion detector, I would remove them from the MB.

When working on the internals of a PC I have a special power cord, it does not have the power pins attached to the AC mains, only the ground pin.

The cord has bright orange tape all over it so someone doesn't use it for something else.

This keeps the unit under service grounded, when removing a component all you do is touch the case.

I'll see what I can do Terry, not sure how i can remove the case intrusion connectors, they are part of the board, but I always ground myself if I open the cabinet, this happened under normal usage. Having said that, now I'm familiar with the issue, if it does happen again, even after I've disabled the Case intrusion logging function, then hopefully it's an easy fix.

Are they connected to a micro switch somewhere on the case going down to a multi-pin header on the MB? If so then test for a normally open or closed condision when the case is closed up and ether clip and short the wires, or leave them open.

It's an empty socket, not connected to the case Terry, it is an issue with the board as said earlier. Case intrusion logging has now been turned off, so will probably be sorted.
