Hi, I have always used a set top box to peak signals and set my dishes up, and thought it was time to see how far i am out doing it this way, I ended up ordering three but only one has turned up, I know the 1.2 is slightly out at the moment, I will see if i can get it any better setting it up the proper way,

I know this one is accurate to 0.5 but it has to be better than guess work that I have used in the past:).

What about mobile phone apps, are they any good?

I did use it once jase, but I think you have to calibrate it, I have a galaxy 5 now and don't want to be messing about up a ladder with that, I cant be too far out with what ive been doing, but there is a few hard to get birds I have had in the past that I am not getting a sniff at, at the moment.

Which sats are they? Im interested in how well mine is set up too.

Hi jase, you have to chase them when conditions are good, different locations can be a different ball game, but 25.5 E 52.5 E I have had a sniff at 17E 6oE that should keep you busy for a while.

image.webp I used one of these to setup my dish. 1.0w is 31.6° at my location, and since using the angled side to set it to 31.5ish my dish is giving me more signal all over the arc. And some I have never seen at my location.

I sent for 3 Chris I think that type is coming, like I say I have just found 0.8 W in the past and tweaked from there, I will see what the weather is like tomorrow and have a play,

I have decided on a resting place for the 1.2 once the 1.8 goes up, I am not messing about, its going at the top of this tree, it should be above roof height here looking at the picture below,

I will put my TM 6900 on and do some tests before and after tweaking :).

Martin! I got digital protractor (circled red) from PRC long time ago. Works great, measures with the precision up to 0,1*, has magnets to stick to metallic surfaces. Also has "Hold" function- measure, remove and still see the proper digits displayed.
Costs, I think , less than 30 EUR (and we do not buy them every day, so cheap enough).
Recommend it.

I was looking at them Rimants and the box ones, they do look good compared to the £3.99 each ones ive bought. I will upgrade in the near future for my next install.

The other two have just turned up, far better quality than the yellow one, it can go in the bin, I just need the weather to clear up, I am not trying to tweak when its cloudy.

I find this type easier to read and very sturdy.

Prefer this type which is accurate to two decimal places...

A nice day for tweaking today, I never did any tests but I will be able to tell, over the next few days, at a first glance a few things are a bit out.

A bit of a waste of time and money TBH, one is reading a fair bit different to the other, I am using the one that makes more sense with the STB readings, I will put my hand in my pocket and send for a better one,

The pole was slightly out of level which I did know about, that has been put right now, it has had a tweak as well, but back to my old method, the STB.
