clutching at straws

Hi,

I used to get Sky back in the analogue days. When it went digital, I couldn't get it anymore because with the new satellite position, a rather large tree was in line of sight )(-red

In the end I went for OnDigital )(-red )(-red )(-red )(-red )(-red )(-red

I saw a comment elsewhere that indicated that the satellite may have changed. Have there been any changes in the last few years that might make it worth me trying the Sky installation again (he said, going into desparately clutching at straws mode).

Thanks.

Abi :P

Not unless your tree has moved Abi. ;)

It's always worth looking at alternative locations for dish siting though, there must be some position on your property or garden, where there is a clear line of sight to 28.2 East.

Some copper nails in the tree will help, or industrial weedkiller lavishly applied to the same tree :D

Cheers m8,

Cor.

Whatever happened to hugging trees Cor? :D

The current Dutch government is anything but eco friendly. Is down to slash, burn and make the poor suffer as much as possible these days I'm afraid.

Have they brought back crucifiction yet ?

:D
Just killed 2 trees that started out as bushes 17 years back when i moved in this house, asked neighbours friendly to cut them a bit down, no reply.
So, in the night with weedkiller in a spray can holding 10 litres pumped up to 8 bar, nozzle made to spray as far as possible, treated the 2 annoying trees.

Leaves drop off after 3 weeks, the tree is then dead...oh dear how sad...:D

well, free sight again from 50 east to 50 west, time to get my 2 metre dish :D

CHeers,

Cor.

Shhh. don't put idea's into there heads.

@>COR<
So you are the %#&*! that killed my trees!

Just kidding, I may have to resort to similar tactics. When I had my dish installed, the woman that lives behind my house commented that "this was always a nice neigbourhood", she apparently also asked the technition if a Turkish family were moving in. Here neighbour has a row of evergreen trees that act as a hedge. Since putting up my dish the trees have not been trimmed. They are not in the way at the moment, but its just a matter of time. Hopefully they will be reasonable about it.

Hello CJGALL ;)

Well, between the asking nicely to trim them, and the actual spraying here is 2 years ;)
That to prevent them making a connection to the sudden death of the "trees"and my request to cut them to size...

So, better ask friendly now, and do the "weed killer pruning" next year in spring when the question is long forgotten.

Cheers,

Cor.

If and when the problem arises (they have a couple of years to grow before they get in the way) I will ask nicely.:)

I am an impatient type though, so if needs be, I will spray some of my shrubs as well, and then blame it on an act of God caused by Channel Hoppers "crucifiction" comment.:D

:D

Nice m8....used Roundup weed killer, guaranteed to "sanitize" the field as the sticker stated, it was industrial strength :o

Did work wonders on the tree's, in my view then ;)

Cheers, and good luck, free skies for ever ;p

Cor.

This is a sad thread, we Irish would never kill trees.

Would not, however have a second about killing the Neighbours and burning their house down….strange how different nationalities have funny standards.

Still we are all Europeans……Even some don’t have the Euro yet.

Hello Razor,

We do have spare trees in Holland :D

And these started out as bushes, but they just let them grow so no big loss.

Cheers,

Cor.

Send a few over >COR< ...Have a nice spot down the end of the garden, But send some poisonous ones as I have some pesky rabbits down there.

For pesky rabbits you have a shotgun :)

Thought trees were scarce there, but they must be on sale there ?

CHeers M8, better come over and enjoy our forrests...

Cor.

;)

I like Razor's method, paricularly the bit about burning the neighbours house down as this would have the added benifit of giving me a clearer view to the west, thus an improved view of Hispasat. However I have come up with another solution, namely goats. Goats eat just about anything so I am considering buying a couple of them and letting them run amock out the back. If the neighbour complains I will deny all knowledge.

Goats are fine, but cut their thongs out first, so they don’t squeal on you.

I think that if someone cut-off my thong I'd probably punch them - then i'd squeal.

Razor, me thinks you meant 'tongue', LOL :)

Regards,

Mark.
