Co channel interference?

The amp is built into that antenna, so filtering after it will not work.

You will need a different antenna, one without an internal amp, the two closest signals are overloading the amp, it looks like it does not have an AGC circuit, so anything can happen.

If you can't take the antenna back then is there some way to open it up? You may be able to bypass the amp.

If this is not possible then a different antenna would be needed, may be one with variable gain.
 
Try a Log periodic or a mini-log (non-amplified version). It's a passive directive aerial and sure to solve a headache of issues. They come with embedded 4G filter or you can add one after. If you do need amplification (and I guess not), add a variable gain controlled Mast Head amplifier. This will give you control so you don't overload it or exceed the maximum output power of said amplifier.

There are ok. Check if it's passive; should have a forward gain of around 6-8dBi.
 
Passive means not-amped, right?

According to the Labgear site, it has a forward gain of 5.3 dBd or 7.5dBi

Initial results with the new Labgear mini log periodic are very encouraging. Most channels working fine, only a few suffering picture breakup. Bearing in mind that's non-amplified with the aerial balanced on an upstairs window sill, I think this will work pretty well when mounted in position (maybe with a masthead amp).

Very happy with these initial results, especially when considering it was a quarter of the price of the Digidome.

Well, it's done. Resolved at last.

I got a Proception variable gain masthead but I was still getting a lot of signal fluctuation on BBCA with picture break up, which was really disappointing. I thought the only solution was going to be to give the aerial a lot more height, which is something which is not easy for me because I don't own any ladders, and I don't fancy heights much.

Anyway, I tried aligning vertically and all muxes came in at 10 strength and 10 quality. I've tested all channels and everything is working great. Obviously it means that I can't get the local Rowridge mux (who cares), and I won't get COM7 or COM8 (when it starts) for HD transmissions but I couldn't get COM7 anyway when I was trying horizontally.

Very happy with this result. Thanks again for help and advice.



PS: Just found this on aerialsandtv.com, perhaps co-channel was my problem? who knows.

"Post switchover Rowridge will (uniquely) be transmitting in vertical as well as horizontal polarity in order to lessen the chances of co-channel interference. The aim is to give people the option to use either polarity and therefore take advantage of cross polar rejection to help reject the unwanted transmissions."
