Has anyone here taken/passed this cert lately? I have just started studying for it and wondered just how much hands on is required.
Any helpful pointers welcome.

I haven't passed the test but purchased one of the books, came with a test CD which ultimately I passed so might be worth buying the book to give yourself a better idea?? I found mine on *mazon relatively cheap.

Yeah I took delivery of the book on Monday, what a volume! Haven't got round to running the disk yet though.

Unfortunately like it or not, the computer dictionary emanates from the US, so we are stuck with Disks/Diskettes, Program/Programs and BB code with Color etc, I don't like it, but can live with it. O-no :-buttkick :-crying

They are the baseline standard now, but I'm not expecting a job from it (not at my age anyway), I just want to learn more about computers and have something to show for it.
Only problem is it's all MS Windows O-no

Bizarre, really: Their domination is not as overwhelming as once it was and it would seem appropriate at least to acknowledge the presence of other Operating Systems.

They do acknowledge Linux and OSx / Mac but it's only one sentence.
Another thing is a lot of it is about Windows XP which is shortly to be abandoned by Microsoft.

I manage around 200 servers at work, the vast majority of which run Windows 2003 and 2008. Only about 20 servers run on Solaris, despite that fact that most of the servers run Apache, Tomcat and Oracle servers - all of which would run more efficiently in Unix...

There's something around about command line....

Have you seen Windows 2012 Server?? The interface is just :-puke ... though the core components are good.

I know nothing (yet) about servers, but I want to learn. Keep my last brain cell from packing it's bags and leaving.
