hi,
tomorrow i¨m setting up a TM5500cip motorised system
for my neighbour.he wants it connected up so that he
can use his sky box as well.
obviously the sky box will only work with the dish parked at
28 degrees east.
theres a loop through system on the TM.
but for the sky box to pick up the signals both horizontal and
vertical, would the TM box have to be on standby or off,
or would i only be able to pick up one polarity?
if this option doesn¨t work for both the signals,i have a manual
A-B switch and a disecq switch, but have read that maybe
the sky box is not compatable with the disceq switch.
i know the easy way out would be to buy a twin lnb.
also, say the dish was on hotbird for a couple of hours
with the TM box, then the dish turned to 28east and the sky
box used, would the sky box have to go through ¨searching
for listings¨,or would it come straight back on to the channels?
thanks in advance for any replies.

I did exactly this and caused myself a right headache.
Because I was advised only to connect coax with the box switched off, every time I swapped receivers I had to leave the SKY digibox for minutes even hours before it would re-instate itself and come on again

I tried this with TM and an old Pace digibox and could not get any signal being received by the Pace with power on or with power off. Anybodyy out there using loopthru successfully to a digibox?

If you can arrange it in any way, you are far better off having a seperate dish for 28E
if you have to have just the one motorised dish, then a seperate feed off a dual / quad lnb is probably better

I have sky on a minidish and a Force 1122s on a motorised. My TV has 3 scart inputs so I dont bother with coax for main pictures. I just connect scart from Sky to TV and from Force to TV. I leave both on all the time. I also use the signal however to feed from the second powered output on the sky box into a powered splitter. This allows me to watch either pictures from Sky or from the ,motorised system in 4 other rooms. To change channel on the sky box, I have 3 remotes and use the little pyramid senders.

Hope this helps

You may find that the Sky box occasionally "locks up" after the dish is moved back to 28.2. This used to happen but I don't know if it's cured with the latest software. It was a RPITB because the Sky box had to be rebooted each time.
