I have a sony bravia TV this is connected to a Humax pvr via scart and the outside aerial goes into the Humax and then coax into the TV this works 100%. Tv is source TV humax is source AV1

I also have a humax foxsat box this has the cable from the dish into the back and a HDMI to the TV this works 100% Source AV5

I want to connect a DVD+VCR to enable me to record from the foxsat. having recently moved the digital reception is very bizarre some days all I can receive is BBC other days I get all channels but it is very hit and miss.

I have connected the VCR to the freesat box with scart and to the TV with a scart. there is only one coax connection on the TV but there are lots of other connections.

If I select AV2 I have sound but no picture If I select AV4 I can view the same satellite channel as is selected on the foxsat and displaying on AV5 BUT when I select the menu to set the DVD-VCR up I am unable to get it to display on the television :confused::confused::confused:
 
Just a bit confused here. Is the Humax PVR a terrestrial one such as the 9200?

Regardless, that shouldn't be the problem. If the the Foxsat displays picture and sound when connected to the TV by scart but only sound when looped through the DVD recorder then the recorder is not passing the video. The most likely reason is theat the Foxsat is set to output video in RGB for best quality and the DVD recorder can't handle that.

If the DVD recorder claims to be able to record RGB then you may be using a scart cable that isn't fully wired - this will need changing. If the DVD recorder can't handle RGB then look for an option in the Foxsat to change the output to composite or, possibly, S-video if the DVD recorder will accept that and you have a fully wired scart lead.
 
the humax is a 9200. the fox sat is connected by HDMI. the rest of it went over my head I'm afraid.
 
OK. First of all temporarily disconnect the HDMI cable and connect the Foxsat to the TV with one of the scart leads. Use source 1 insted of the 9200 as you know this works. Then try the second scart lead. If both scart leads give you sound and picture on the TV then there is nothing wrong with either and it must be the DVD recorder not passing the video signal through.

You will have to go into the setup menu of the Foxsat but I can't talk you through this as I'm 1,000 miles away from my Foxsat at the moment! From memory you press the Menu button and then there are four options on the left of the screen with a brief description on the right of the screen of what that particular option does. Navigate up and down using the up/down buttons surrounding the OK/Select button. You want the one which alters the outputs.

Navigate to the right using left buttons and then down to the option for scart output. You need to change this from RGB to composite (left/rght buttons) and then press OK. You can then move out of this by pessing the menu button again. Check that the video signal now goes through the DVD using the procedure above.
 
thank you it was the DVD setup screen I was trying to display but using the Foxsat menu makes sense
