Considering new hardware

Hello All

I live in Switzerland and plan to get as dish (perhaps multiple LNB?) installed by a local shop. As this will probably cost a good bit, I'm considering buying the following equipment on-line, rather than accepting their recommendations:

Infinity USB Phoenix Programmer
Titanium Card
FunCard 4
M-Vision FCIS reciever
CAM/s?? (suggestions please)

Is there anything else (apart from a PC) I need to get me up, running and flexible in my viewing? Is this going overboard?

Also, does anyone know if I need a digibox or just a card to recieve Sky over here?

Any other advice you can give me would be most appreciated.

To answer your last question first, for subscription or Free To View channels on the Sky Digital package, you will require a Sky Digibox and subscription card. To view the BBC channels, all you will need is a good receiver and a dish of the appropriate size for your location.

A motorised dish is always going to offer you more flexibility in viewing, but the channel zapping is not as quick as a multi LNB setup.

Don't know the receiver you mention, but I would suggest a Matrix Reloaded or X-CAM in addition to the above, forget the funcard4, unless you need it/them to update the CAM and even then the fun5 or fun6 are of more use.

Depending on how computer savvy you are, you may find that the Dreambox will offer you more longterm flexibility, plus you won't need all of the other bits and pieces.

I've investigated the DreamBox 7000 and like the sound of it, especially the hard disk derived features.
If you think the matrix reloaded CAM is the best bet at the moment thats good enough for me, so I just need to get the LNBs sorted out. Do you have advice on what types I should specify - how about MTI Twin/Quattro Universal ?

Finally (sorry) any clues as to what I might be able to recieve with this set-up?

I would probably favour tehX-CAM in favour of the MR, but there probably isn't too much between them at the moment, but as I said, if you go for the Dreambox, you shouldn't need a CAM.

LNB wise, the MTI is a good choice, the Invacom is also highly thought of. You shouldn't need a twin or Quad, unless you intend to run more than one receiver from it.

As to what you can expect to receive, there are channels splattered everywhere, from 28.2 East round to 30 west and some outside of those. The main content can be found 28.3, 19.2, 13 and 5 East, then 1West and 30West, the available channels change almost daily though.
