Just ordered a TBS 6925 PCI-E DVB-S2 TV Tuner Card from BuyDVB online store. Are there any customs duties to pay when it arrives?

There's a fair chance that there will, although a lot of these companies ship as gifts or samples and don't get stung for duty, a bit worrying really, as there's probably millions of pounds worth of product coming into the UK duty free, yet anything going the other way attracts duty.

Nothing to pay this end if you're using DHL Express. Comes into Heathrow and then to your door via DHL's service points.

I know that's good for us, but surely that must be wrong.

Right or wrong Rolf, I'm only going by my experience with the particular item in question.

Wasn't insinuating that your were wrong, but that it is wrong.

This section explains DHL's processing of items through customs into EU territory. I expect stuff does get checked occasionally, but providing DHL's shipping invoices are accurate, I suppose most of their packages get the nod through.

Thanks for the info. Maybe my little package will slip through but I agree the government must be losing loads in lost revenue. I prefer to buy in the UK but ShopDVB appears to have a good reputation.

Yes it is strange I have bought stuff from ebay where the shipper is in China or Malaysia or Taiwan or HongKong never yet had to pay any duty and I have to say it has puzzled me as well, only small inexpensive items like micro mice etc but still it all adds up.

Last year I ordered a BluRay box set from Play.com in the UK. It didn't turn up, I cancelled it and got my credit card refunded. A few days later the postwoman arrives with the original order but tells me there is €8 duty to pay because the order was despatched from the Channel Islands. Ok, I've got a cheap box set but needless to say I don't order with Play.com now.

I buy quite a bit from 7 day shop in the Channel Islands, but you can be liable to duty if the value is over £15 I believe.
