Hi

Thanks everyone for you info.

I am unsure on the situation as far as Cyprus and Astra 2D.

I note in the cyprus newgroups they say E4 and ITV London has moved to 2D

What I don't understand is whether 2D is viewable in Cyprus.

Are other channels going to move to 2D and become unviewable in Cyprus

Many thanks in anticipation

No-one knows if further channels will move to 2D. there wont be a wholesale move as the bird is just about full. However, I wouldnt be at all surprised if Channel 4 moved there in the near future.

Use the forum search function to search for Cyprus - theres a lot of threads mentioning it. (Search is up near the top of the page.)
ISTR 2D is available, although it needs a pretty big dish, 2.5m-3m ish on the west coast.

This page may help

I am still unsure on this matter.

Satllite installers are claiming these channels have gone forever, yet people say 2D is receivable.

Why is there a conflict in these viewpoints.

It all to do with dish sizes and received signal strengths. The BBC services havent gone anywhere - obviously or else all the forums would be full of the news :D but received signal strengths are very weak in Cyprus

However, many expats cant have (or dont want) 10 - 15 foot diameter dishes in their gardens. If they dont, they do without the BBC and the other 2D channels. If however they have the budget (and room) for one of these monster dishes, then the signals are still received.
