today, I cut off some of the annoying bit of the bracket that blocks access to the adjustment hole.

it makes life a lot easier to get to, no more need to loosen the side bolts.

Well.....Now what is to prevent the bolt from shearing off that little bit left over??? there is a lot of stress on that part during a high wind condition, and more during the movement of the dish.

how can it sheer off with a bolt done up tight against it, and the motor assembly - even if it was slotted, it wouldnt be an issue.

Winter, Summer, Winter, Summer, Winter, Summer, contract and expand, things will get loose and who knows what would happen.

And if it was slotted there would be a washer or star washer use to keep things tight.

there is a washer there, its darker in the pic - i've never had a motor bracket nut come loose, if anything, they get tighter.

thank you for the concern though.

Thanks for the pictures

My dark motor had some loose play you could knock it off at 1W and watch the meter go down slightly!

I fitted a older dark motor not realising it was as simple as tightening this bolt that causes the loose play!!!

At least ive still got a working spare. Looks like you cant get them on ebay anymore

yeah you have to peel off a "spanner" sticker

its annoying as the motor bracket covers the hole slightly - so when you want to adjust it - you have to loosen off both side bolts to get access, for me this, ruined alignment slightly.

my "hack" gets around having to do this, and turns a 30 min job, more if, it screws up alignment, into a 5 min job.

I have a small number of Dark motors here, not new but complete with little wear.

Tested on full arc and reset to factory conditions with the Emitor analyser. All threads checked, bolts/nuts cleaned and lubed
.
£23 + a box + whatever courier is needed to get them to you, so expect £30 delivered to mainland UK.

thats a good and very fair deal. :Y
