Hi
my current setup consists of an Echostar 2110 2Ci VA, 80cm dish and Big Sat 0.3db monobloc LNB pointed at hotbird and astra using Disecq switching and everything works lovely. Today I received my eagerly awaited DB5620-S, connected it up...nothing. Tried every combiniation of satellite configuration and the SNR never goes above 45/46. I tried connecting my sky dish and that seems to work SNR is around 60% (my sky+ box shows signal strength and quality at over 75%) picture goes blocky though. Can anyone give advice re: the lnb set-up or does the DB sound faulty?
Cheers
Neil

What settings do you have for your LNB on the Dreambox?

Hi Rolf,
I've tried every combiniation in satellite configuration As a single lnb without diseq switching (that should just pull in hotbird right?), 2 sats via tone burst, 2 sats via 22Khz, 2 sats via diseqc etc. All give SNR = 45-46, AGC = 0 - 60 BER = 2048.
I have only recently had the monoboc fitted and did notice that the signal strength had dropped on Hotbird when it was installed, its never caused a problem on the Echostar though.

I've just reconnected my Echostar and am getting signal strength of around 60-70% and signal quality of 84% and yet the DB is rooted at 45%.

Does anyone else use a DB with a monobloc LNB? If so what setting do you use?

Would using a different image make any difference?

Is the DB tuner weaker than the one in my Echostar 2110?

Can anyone recommend a good installer in the Wigan/Leigh Area to check the alignment of my dish?

Have you tried the DB via the loopthrough on the Echostar?

Hi Rolf,
thanks for the reply. I've connected the DB via the loopthrough on the Echostar and set the Echostar to Hotbird and set the DB to one LNB only also on Hotbird and its worked first time. SNR now 85% AGC 57% BER 0%.
Does this suggest that the LNB is incompatible with the DB?
On the LNB packaging it states that it uses Diseqc2.0 switching, does the DB support this?
What are my options, bearing in mind that the Echostar is currently on ebay.

If it works via the loopthrough, then it can be made to work direct, on the Echostar, what DiseqC settings do you have for Hotbird?

Try it with many satellites via DiseqC rotor, then label the satellites accordingly.

Thanks for your patience rolf, i've now gone into satellites configuration, sselected many satellites via DiSEqC Rotor and:-

For Hotbird
LNB: 1
22Khz: Off
Voltage: H/V
Sat/LNB Mapping: LNB 1
LOF/L: 09750
LOF/H: 10600
Threshold: 11700
Increased Voltage: unchecked
Toneburst: None
DiSEqC Mode: Ver 1.2
DiSEqc Parameter: A/A
DiSEqC Repeats: None
Uncomitted swirch: None
Sequence Repeat: Unchecked
Swap Commands: Unchecked
Fast DiSEqC: Unchecked

For Astra
LNB: 2
22Khz: Off
Voltage: H/V
Sat/LNB Mapping: LNB 2
LOF/L: 09750
LOF/H: 10600
Threshold: 11700
Increased Voltage: unchecked
Toneburst: None
DiSEqC Mode: Ver 1.2
DiSEqc Parameter: A/B
DiSEqC Repeats: None
Uncomitted swirch: None
Sequence Repeat: Unchecked
Swap Commands: Unchecked
Fast DiSEqC: Unchecked

Still nothing. Are you sure its not the LNB. There is a thread a few below this one where a chap has two lnbs and a DiSEqC 2.0 switch, with each LNB directly attached the box he has no probelms, when he puts the switch in the mix he gets nothing. Sounds similar to my problem, when the echostar is switching for the DB its ok, when its attached directly to the monobloc it all goes wrong.

Unfortunately I only have 3rd party experience with monoblocs, as I don't like them and use individual LNBs with switches as a preference.

I can't get that menu up on my image, but have a play with the increased voltage toneburst and DiseqC parameter

Hi Rolfw, sorry about the late reply.

I have played around with the settings until I'm blue in the face but still nothing.

I have just been up the ladders and replaced the monobloc with a single universal LNB and tested it using my echostar and it was working perfectly signal strength approx 75% signal wuality approx 75-80%. Then did flash erase on DB and then went through wizard selecting single LNB/one satellite, did transponder scan, nothing. Tried loopthrough from echostar again and it works fine, can't understand it.

Its lashing it down at the moment but in the morning I'll get back up the ladders and using the cable I have been using to loop from the Echostar to the DB I'll connect up the DB again and try. If that fails can you think of anything else to try before I try and explain all this to a german on line store?

Thanx in advance
Neil
