see ump2002.net for all images, tools, cams etc for the dbox2.

As you know, it does what a dreambox can do and comes in various flavours, Nokia, Phillips and Sagem.

I am using the phillips with 2xI (£80 on Eby) and sold my dreambox 5620S.

Cheers.

Quite like a 5620, but they are a bit expensive, can a DBOX2 really do all a 5620 can?? I've found a few on ebay but they seem to vary widely in price :confused ...some mention "premiere" with the box (are these boxes only for use with premiere channels?)

Thanks in advance

You can use dbox2 for FTA and encrypted channels and Premiere Smartcard.

dbox2 vs. dreambox 5620:

dbox2 (Nokia, Sagem, Philips):
+ good display
+ actually keys and Images
+ Neutrino or Enigma
+ Betacryptmodul for Premiere

- to use smartcard u need a Multicam (cost 20 EUR)
- to use Images/Linux the box must be in debbugmodus!
- no CI Slot

dreambox:
+ CI Slots

- expensive
- Enigma

Just to expand on the above, the dbox2 (for sat or cable) usually comes with the original betanova software - meaning that it is locked and you cannot flash any other image except by putting it in debug mode.

You can flash another neutrino or enigma image (available on ump2002.net) by putting it in debug mode yourself. Help is available here: _http://www.dietmar-h.net/

It is advisable to buy one which is already in debug mode. Dbox2 uses the same CAMS and keys etc as a dreambox e.g. 5620S.

A word of caution: There are very few English sites for Dbox2 (Me, I use dbox2 to hack cable and has come to like it for satellites too).

putting your box into dbug is not hard and you could save yourself a packet, depending on which model,go for the nokia if you can get one.
