After no success installing my kit yesterday, I took down my dish and redid my LNB connections, put it all back together and within ten minutes had super pictures across the heavens! Fabulous result.

That was 6pm.

But now I don't have a peep from the motor. No movement. And no lights of any colour. It's dead. So it's got to come down a third time. I'm not a happy bunny. 'O'-red

I'd just watched a zone thriller this evening and was moving the dish when I heard what sounded like a 'thud'. As if the dish had hit the wall, but the dish is at least 18 inches or more clear of the wall or anything else.

Ah well, least I know the LNB works!

There's a very big chance your cable feed marked as 'receiver' on the motor has fallen out or broken from it's f connector.

Also wise to cut off the surplus ends of the U clamps and make sure the cable is not too tight.

That's what's happened SM, thanks. Will fix in daylight. Had enough of ladders for today. . . . Cable wasn't tight - at least not until it caught on the supporting bolts. No lasting damage I hope.

Yes, most likely the F-connector (if it was the cheap screw on type) has snapped apart, or the cable has been pulled out of it.

I regularly see cables pulled out by the dish bracket U bolts, I bring the cable from the LNB up through the dish bracket, over the top of the motor and bring it from behind the motor onto the input connector.

The Penta Ubolts dont leave much clearance for the In/Out cables on the SG2100.

Its a close balance getting the cabling right unless you cut the bolts down a bit.

In daylight I can see the connector still in place but the tuner cable floating loose. Confident it won't take a moment once the weather allows.

On the flip side I must say that everyone was hugely impressed with the picture quality. Never dreamed it would be that good. Even non-HD programmes were better quality. I was becoming a pain remarking on the picture quality on every channel!! But we were all agreed that we'd get used to the quality just as we've got used to the 50" screen.

Another good thing about all this is that I've got exclusive use of the remote until the others pour through the instructions and gain confidence. I'll enjoy it while it lasts! Cheers guys.

Hi,

Muddywellies, the bolts from my Triax can also foul the cables. However, I located a couple of right angle F connectors which I installed on the motor. This allows the cables to be directed well away from the dish bracket bolts.

Even sliding the dish towards the top of the motor mount didn't affect them. If you have a look at one of the pics on the thread, 'Motorised Triax in France' you'll see what I mean. The connectors were made by Metronic but I bought them here so don't know what their availability would be in the UK.

Yes, screw-on elbow adapters can be bought here in the UK very easily Pete. I normally just chop off the end of the U-bolts on the Triax.

It was actually the large wing nuts that were fouling rather than the bolts, but I take your point that cutting off the excess is a good idea. I'm not noted for my finesse with a hacksaw/angle grinder!!

Obviously a common problem. I confess I didn't think to chop the bolts the night I 'finished' - I was just delighted to get out of the rain and see a picture which proved there were no component/connection issues. It was a huge relief. Sorted everything out this morning and it works a treat.

Got to get to grips with the TM 6900 now...... Re 'favourites' set up and using the dish without the preset sats..... and all the other stuff.
