I posted this on AV Forums but thought I'd ask here in case anyone might know.

I recently acquired a second leg X2200W amp and set it up as per instructions. I have Sky box, media streamer and fire stick all plugged into the amp and the video and audio work absolutely fine.

The issue comes with trying to connect my ancient DVD player to the analogue inputs on the amp - the amp simply doesn't recognise there's a video input there and I am left staring at the "DENON" writing on screen. The analogue audio, however, is working OK. I tried several devices with several outputs (component and composite) but none seem to work.

I made sure that the analogue scaler and video conversion option is selected in the video output menu of the amp ...but no luck.

Maybe I am doing something wrong? I can't think of anything else to try. Is this perhaps a known issue?

Have you set that particular input to "COMP" on the input assign menu?

Yeah done that. Tried composite as well but no luck. Almost like the entire analogue board is dead.

What DVD player is it and has it been adapted to region coding ?

Does the Denon analogue port accept any another device without difficulty ? Anything at all?

It's a Toshiba region free DVD player with component and composite output, both of which work if I connect them to my TV directly.

I also tried piping Nintendo Wii through the amp with component connection but the symptom was the same. Sound comes through but no picture - there's nothing on screen to say what the issue is; no "no signal" or anything like that. Almost like there's nothing there.

I still think that I haven't chosen something properly in one of many menus but my suspicion is that the analogue board is knackered.

Region free might have something to do with it, but I fear the Denon is being given commands from the other kit. Try removing all other inputs first , if no success the reset to factory and start with analogue

Do you have a VCR to check as a backup ?

Factory reset was my next step. I do have a VCR, so will check with that too.

The unit is apparently "ex-display" and it looks it - very clean - but I am sure it will have been switched on for about 3 years straight with a daily wipe to keep it looking fresh.

Ah, ex display.

Do you recall the Pioneer screen/Sky box debacle of a few years back ?

It was a while back. Wasn't there an issue connecting then new Pioneer TVs to even newer Sky HD boxes via HDMI because it didn't support content protection thing?

A bit more than simple hdcp issues, some ended up with damaged equipment.

I believe there were multiple causes, unannounced change of resolution of channels (720/1080) , and different results, 'out of range ' messages and green screens during channel change.

PS3, Sky HD and Pioneer Problem

Damage to equipment through 'excess voltage'

SKY HD HDMI Outputting too high voltage? Causing HDCP damage?

Not just Pioneer either.

Sky HDMI output possible fault - esp with Pioneer plasmas [Archive] - Forums @ The Digital Fix
