I have a 800hd and just set up a dynDNS ip addy it looks now
that i've changed the setting on my db that the db ip dont
show up on my client list...is this correct, does changing the
ip on the box kind of mask it in the router OR have i did
something wrong....

To do port forwarding (which is what I suspect you are trying to do), you need a static IP or permanent lease of a fixed IP by your dreambox, otherwise you will not be able to do port forwarding. I normally use a static IP on the dreambox, outside the DHCP range of the router, and this will not show in your DHCP list (if this is what you have done on the dreambox (turned DHCP off). Once you have set up port forwarding you should be able to access your dreambox on the port(s) you have forwarded from the internet. If you can't you have done something wrong.
The easiest way to test if your port forwarding has been set up correctly is to use telnet from a PC which is NOT on your home network (a friend or work) and do the following:

Click Start/Run and enter:
telnet <your dyndns name> <your port>

If this comes back 'failed to connect', it did not work. If it connect (you'll get garbage) then it is working.
Another way to test is to use a port checker (like ShieldsUp), but this does not guarantee that the port is forwarded correctly, it just checks that it is open.
The above are general comments as you don't specify your router.
