When we go down to France we always have a shopping list for our English friends who live on the other side of the village. Usual requests include English bread flour, sardine & tomato paste, sausages, bacon, Marmite, Hob Nobs, English mustard, Oxo cubes - basically an English person abroad's missing comfort foods!

Good stuff - when we were last in France, the Supermarkets showed signs, to varying degrees, of having small specialist sections for Brits who can't or won't switch their buying habits. On l'autre hand, they also sell British Horsemeat in their own Butchery Depts. Honours even?

Some years ago I saw one of these sections in the smaller Carrefour in Calais. There were Heinz baked beans (I don't even like Heinz beans - much prefer Aldi's), Marmite, Heinz soups, etc all at an extortionate price. I was so amazed I even took a photo!

In the last nine years, I think I've bought goods from the 'anglaise' section maybe four or five times. It was an irresistable urge for Crunchie each time.....there, I've said it!!

Nice box of goodies there, like their Milky Ways, more like our Mars Bars.:)

My goody bags to France always include the basics: Baked Beans, strong Cheddar cheese, Horlicks, a couple of big packs of Tetleys tea bags, Branston Pickle, a large pack of Crunchie bars, dry cure bacon, sausages and Mum's Marmalade.:)

If I weighed that, I would consider putting on a few more pounds to survive the big freeze.

Yes everytime we go to Israel we get given a shopping list, strong cheddar cheese, Lancashire tasty cheese, jars of Marmite, giant bags of Twiglets, cheese & onion crisps, 1kg of Yorkshire Tea indeed there is a limit imposed on the weight per person of 3Kg of food items which we maxed out at 2.995 KG and a max of 1Kg per item, when we came home our suitcases weighed 17Kg despite bringing home Halva, 12 bags of Turkish coffee, Boxes of Baklawa and bags of Bizzli.

Yep, they used to be called Mars bars over in the states, then for whatever reason they renamed them to Milky Way, which is completely mad, cos they're no where near what our Milky Ways are like... :-rofl2
