Digital TV in Italy

I'm looking to buy a tv for my holiday home in Italy. It has a built in DVB-T tuner with it. First of all, does Italy have DVB-T, and is it going to stay?

Also, does anyone know whether a small indoor ariel will work or will I need a larger outdoor one?

Im in the latina region, its a small countryside area in between rome and naples on the coast if that helps!

I am sorry I have no idea what is available in Italy, perhaps another member who lives there will respond, in the meantime, this seems to indicate there is DVB-T of sorts but as there are special requirements for Italian reception, I would recommend buying your TV there otherwise it may not be compatible

Italy appears to already have transitioned to the digital format and will, or already has, gotten rid of its analogue system. If you are far from an urban center you may have to put up an outside aerial. I would google for "DVB-T coverage in Italy" or some such like... You may even be wholly outside the coverage area, in which case a FTA satellite receiver would be the best option.
According to the RAI website, there is a digitial TV transmitter in the town of Latina, so you might be able to receive signals on an inside antenna, if you were within say 20 km or so of the tower.

I'm sure you're Italian must be up to it, so have a look under Copertura, for example, which shows switch over maps and dates etc. by region.

Both Lazio and Campania are due for imminent switchover ...............

Sorry to say, but what we understand from the Italian channels is that they're not like the British or German people involved in technologies. They use cheaper things 'coz at a time their cost of living was too high. the "Lire" was and still is killing them. Therefore, there couldn’t find anything interesting.
HD TVs, Flat ones or Plasmas. Lowe or Toshiba, Philips, and rare marks can’t be found in there.
