Hi friends ..
Has anyone in the UK ..managed to lock this mux ?..
3960V 30000 3/4

My worst nightmare 8psk and HD ..so always requiring a strong signal level..
Best I can squeeze out of Christina atm is 8.9 db ...and this sadly isn't enough.
So ..If anyone can tell me the minimum signal level needed for lock I'd appreciate it..
If it's 10db+ then I suspect this mux will escape me..

I'll try checking later Evan, we've got the worst possible weather for satellite DX today, low cloud (I'm in it!) and heavy drizzle, been like it since I got up this morning.

no chance for me with this one --
a wall comes into play after 50 W --- so i only get the very strongest t.p.,s form 58 west ,

cheers - :)

no way for me VS a tree is blocking the signal,my limit is 55.5W.cheers

My appreciation Pride and to Nelson for trying to help ..
Signal here has dropped a little anyway ..
The best I can tweak out of Christina atm is 8.4 db..so chances are this mux will encrypt long before I get a freak 'catch' ..if ever.

Wifey is still sleeping VS, I'll give it a shot later and post back.

I had a look last night but nothing, conditions were aweful for weak signal working and they aren't much better today with thick fog here, I could see the bump in Crazyscan but nowhere near a locking level. It looks like something (rat? cat?) has chewed through my positioner cable, although it will nudge L/R I'm getting no feedback from the reed switch so that will need joining and this time I'll slide the whole lot into a length of hosepipe to stop it happening again.

Moved the bud over to 58w and that tp scanned in well on both my f3 and azbox. On my f3 the signal quality is jumping from 40-70% and will not open any channels, the azbox ultra scans it in at 74% signal quality and no issues at all:

Cheers for the info Costa...
Normally I would equate Q at 74% to about 7.5db on the F15 ..suggesting it should indeed lock at 8db ...which would equate to about 80%Q ..
But sadly it doesn't ..
My guess is that the extension wings might actually be hindering the lock process (creating errors)...giving a signal level which is strictly speaking less effective on account of it being 8PSK and such a high SR..
I'll keep trying but not looking favourable..sadly

Took a look using the TBS card ..spectra and constellation..
The tuner isn't as high gain as the F15 ..but clearly shows the signal to be 8psk...but very very noisy..
Low on the horizon at 58 west ..so possibly background radiation interferance?
Suffice to say ..I cannot get a lock on the TBS either..
Maybe too ambitious so low on the Horizon ..in view of the dish size (borderline) ..and the extreme SR and modulation..
Basically ..signal to noise ratio not favourable.
cest la vie.
