Dish Fine Adjustments

Hi all, When trying to align a dish there is many ways of fine tuning the angle of the dish with adjustment screws/bolts, but I noticed with interest the adjustable mount in the following post which gives rotatable adjustment when setting up the dish position.

Does anyone have any other ideas for finely adjusting the rotation of the motor and dish on the pole similar to this idea ?

I think that T&K brackets is not expensive and good solution to make pole plumb and adjust East-West. However I would do something to prevent pole falling down when fixings are loosen, this is piece of cake to mod. Also it is good to have small tool to turn pipe without touching the dish. This tool is basically piece of pipe which you can attach to pole and use it like handle.

If your main pole is a steel scaffolding pole held up with TKs 'acquire' a yellow end cap. Usually these are injection moulded and on the inside you'll see a small nipple right in the centre of the cap. Drill it out, pass some nylon fishing line through it, gaffer tape the top so it can't fall out and tie a small weight to the other end. Cap your pole so the weight is just below the bottom of the pole and you'll be able to tell very easily if the pole is plumb because the line will be in the exact centre of the pole.

I do not have a problem getting the pole vertical, it is the fine adjustnet when you rotate the motor mount, I would like another alternative to the device that RimaNTSS designed in post No 20 of that thread.

Loosen the motor clamp bolts and twist the motor around the pole. I can't really see any purpose for the other device (except pose value).

I noticed that on weak transponders one fine nudge to the east the signal strength improves slightly.Probably less than 1/2 mm on the pole.Imposible to do manually.so I made a gadget a few weeks ago.The idea is loosen the motor bolts a little,loosen the left bolt on the ajustment bracket a smidgin,tighten the right one the motor moves a smidgin to the east.You never know it may work.

I think any old analogue meter would be good enough for this, get it locked onto your south satellite, then peak it on the meter. I've always found it's just a case of tightening one side more than the other to get that final 0.1°If you need to pad down the meter a little just throw a wet cloth over the LNB.

Clamp mole grips or similar pipe holding tool to the pole, this should allow you to make fine adjustments when its right, you can remove the tool.

I used a stainless steel jubilee clip, left it on there in case i ever have to re-align.
