My Satellite Setup
Snap's setup: (In Spain) Humax HDR, Prodelin 1.8m dish + Invacom QDF-031 + CM feed, (In UK) CallFlow VDSL + EE 4G, Sky Q, YouView HD, Mac OSX, iOS
My Location
UK: Tonbridge, Kent. Spain: Madrid.
That's a great picture, most don't include themselves to give scale.
How have you modified the feed? It looks quite unusual.

Some more pcs;
Two actuators (heavy duty motors)
C-band feed (Chaparral)
KU band feed; modified by me using the invacom feed; the original one
(provided by prodelin) had no scalar rings and I could not receive Sirius (north beam); with the adjustable invacom feed, I am able to receive all
channels form Sirius north beam.

Dear Barney,

nice to hear from you. I think I learnt how to assembly a huge Prodelin dish, so I would be happy to help you and other people. However it would be a good idea to wait for news from Giorgio. If he is able to receive Astra 2d in Perugia, it will be worth trying in Abruzzo with a bit larger dish.

As you certainly remember, I agreed with your earlier hypothesis on why
Astra2d is so difficult to be received in Central and Southern Italy. The hypothesis was that Astra 2A,2B and Eurobird together send too much signals from the same position (28.2-28.5 East) so that the lnb gets overload, and it is not able to captured the low signal from Astra 2d.
I noticed a similar thing just today on Hotbird. The transponder H 12145, mt2, is "hidden" by the stronger transponder V 12149. Look at what happens:
The reception of H12145 H with Prodelin 3.35 m (invacom) is NOT possible;
The reception of H12145 H with Prodelin 3.35 m (invacom) equipped with two attenuators (one near the lnb, the other near the receiver, a Golden-Interstar) is possible; signal quality 46%;
The reception of H12145 H with a primefocus 1.50 m is possible; signal quality 79%.

On the other hand, I receive many off footprint satellites (for instance Amos2
MiddleEast transponders, and Iranian channels at 62East) with my Prodelin. Of course, no trace of signals from these satellites with the smaller 1.50 m dish.

Ciao Coviello,
i can confirm all this. In our area there are some problem with some transponder of astra 2A north beam. if i connect my 3.00 mt dish at the receiver with 3mt of cable , no signal from this transponder (es 12.148).. if i connect the receiver with 100 mt of cable and 2 junction i can see this frequency.......
the power is very important.
I have buyed an invacom 4 out with original feed.. but no signal from astra 2d
best regards

Thanks Coviello for your reports.
If with your dish you can't get astra2d,now we can say that definitely reception from Southern Italy is impossible.

I must say before 2d's launch I thought it would be impossible to prevent reception of a UK targeted satellite from Europe.
Particularly considering that a minidish is good enough in the Channel Islands.

In fact you can still receive the nordic beams of Scandinavian satellites,and the same I would have thought for Astra 2D.
