Dish inside or outside railings - Effect?

And this doesnt' work the way I want it too. :(

I've installed a flat fully inclosed dish on my balcony _http://www.pulsat.com/satellite/site/details.php?product_id=24

My building does have a no dish install policy I was wondering what would the effects is I installed the dish to the inside of the iron railings. Would this degrade the signal?
 
Only if they are in line of sight.

Assuming you are using it for 28E, then imagine a line drawn around 25 degrees upwards from the Dish position in the direction of the Satellite cluster.

If that goes over the railings, no problem.

If not, you may get reduced Signal Quality, as some of the incoming signal will be reflected/blocked/deflected and not be coherent with the bulk of the collected signal - that'll affect the BER.

However, any degradation doesn't necessarily mean there is no hope.

Most of my Dishes fire through telephone wires and I don't suffer unduly in practice.
