As I spoke on another topic about my new nightmare (9 very high poles front of my pf). Now I have a solution-> "Only" 1.5m more lenght for my dishes own pole and signals are basically back?!?!
Luckily few other finnish sat-friends will help me to build that monster:)

For future signals, east will be easily ok but still needing luck for west but we shall see then...

What do you mean by monster? Pole in front of your place or 1,5m antenna  Will be interesting to see your success of getting signals from 7*W.

:lol:My poor english (again). So I must put about 3m mast for my C-band prime focus (now normally 1.5m mast). I think about 3m mast and 2.3m dish+motor is not piece of cake to install. Luckily mesh doesnt so heavy than other dishes but still it will be hell of the work to do well. And mounts adjustment will be other relaxing job I suppose:lol:

Backround: theres a finnish first and only crickett arena in front of my house (dishes). Suddenly on last week they put 9 (too high) poles outside of arena. I believe its because of protective net next. At once before theres even any net, my signals gone 2-4 dB weaker. Very easy to catch new weak channels then...
Otherwise this arena has been quite nice. They keep it clean and grass is elegant and maybe players too (90% speak english). But that newest action was a nightmare for my satellite hobby.

Why do not you use their poles for your dishes? Just kidding. :-rofl2 Is it possible that playing cricket they hit your antennas? Or it is too far? How are you going to make your 3m mast stable enough? And what kind of motor you going to use for 2,3m mesh? Too many questions...

Hopely they dont get any pro-players, who will be hit "knock of the year":-rofl2 Well, no I dont think so seriously.

How are you going to make your 3m mast stable enough?

Hmmmm that will be one of the questions...

And what kind of motor you going to use for 2,3m mesh?

My current Jaeger Super Heavy Duty 36"

As you see it will be quite a job and thats why I thought nightmare was here:rolleyes:

That will not be easy to do adjusting of LNB and polar-mount when it is more than 3 meters above the ground. Should not you conciser to make some kind of platform at that height just to be able to stay there? And to make pole stable, I think it is better to make it out of big diameter metal pipe, or if you making platform than out of 3-4 vertical pipes with platform on top.

I know but other "problem" are my neighbours. I live in 10 family housing cooperative (row house) and my prime focus situate at our common area. Neighbours are very, very friendly and gave me promise to put dish there. But if I will make whole thing "best I can do"=massive, theres a possibility that neighbours dont like my hobby anymore?

So, I must think also how it looks carefully. But both guys from Huoltovalikko (finnish sat-forum) who will help me, are made many, many difficult installations before.

I don't see much that could affect your signals from the satellites, all but one at 7W miss the poles.

The one at 7W is just grazing the satellite, you could move and re-mount the dish to the right a bit, but it shouldn't affect the signals from the others.

As far as a taller mast, I use 2" rigid conduit for the main part, then a 2" to 1-1/2" bell reducer to go to a 1-1/2" rigid conduit, these come in 10 foot lengths and are threaded.

You have to pour a base for it, and use a 2" pipe flange to support it, and an eve mount to brace it, but once you get it up it works wonders.

Yes this will be situation after the increase, what is shown on these 2 photos. We took these Ipadphotos from ladders. We simulate situation that dish would be with about 3m mast and took pictures from up there:)

I must be missing something here, I don't see how a few tall poles on their own can effect the entire Clarke belt of satellites. Maybe with a wet mesh netting up it might but surely the odd pole would just knock out a single satellite?

Setting up a dish on a new taller pole is possible and quite easy assuming both old and new poles are perfectly vertical. Did it here with my 1.2, tracked it up perfectly at ground level before moving it on top of a 4m post, all that was required was to set it accurately at 1W once up.

It is maybe still my bad english and cannot tell the "real name of problem"? But anyway this is how for e.g 20E looks. Pole just in front of it and signals from about 12dB to 8.5dB now. Same situation would be if there suddenly appear 9 high enough trees. And when they will put net also, I´m sure signals still goes more weaker.

Yes, I can well imagine that those poles would make quite a difference if they are very close to the satellite in question.

They look like typical Finnish wooden poles, perhaps it's time to invest in a chain saw...

Yes indeed you said The right word Timo: close:)

So these poles are too close to dish and also too high for satellites elevation angle. Anyone else understand now?

...and Ku-signals with 125 Gibby are about same as earlier. Although different Place where dish locate. Only missing "new" 48E Afghansat which was watchable day before these poles and now only signal without lock. So maybe mesh dish disturbed easily because of obstacle or 4 GHz, or..? But certainly prime focus is closer than Gibby for these poles.

Very late at night, maybe in the middle of winter when snow is on the ground and everyone is watching tv, :ph34r:get a car tow strap, put it round the pole and drive forwards gently enough to pull the pole to one side and away from the satellite. Only a small amount of lean will be needed, like the leaning tower of Pisa.

I didn't know they played cricket in Finland. I thought you would have more danger of waking up in the morning to find someone had built a sauna over your dish. If a cricket ball hits your dishes there is only one way to stop it happening again :-Axechase

I wondered for a moment if they used orange coloured balls in winter in case they fall into the snow but I bet they give up for the winter and practice indoors.

Anyway, I have a refinement of my idea.

The same aim, to use a car tow strap and make the pole into a leaning tower of Pisa.

I thought if Kveys or a friend could take advantage of the international situation and 'borrow' a military vehicle the job would be easier as they are so powerful. Just a nudge might do it. If anyone asks what you are doing just say you are practising in case there is an invasion then tell them they must keep it secret to avoid any panic.

You might even get away with doing it during the day. :)

If poles are made of wood than family of termites could do the job. Hoverer, short Finish summer maybe too short, and winters too cold for those insects. Never mind, great project, good luck with that.
