sky,Showtime,Supersports,Art,1.2 meter dish,Lacuna mk4 meter,Horizon ,satcatcher,

Has anyone heard of a dish thats about 1.35-1.5mtr ku band, with a small rounded plate mounted near the lnb that is supposed to give same reception as a 2.8 - 3mtr dish

Where did you hear that? Let us to know more about that.
 
Totally impossible to give the results as a 2.8m dish.

It's a chance you may be refering to as an example a Cassegrain adapting kit for 135cm offset Tecatel dish which will give you slightly more gain.
