My Satellite Setup
Dutch receiver

Hi
I have received my Freesat receiver wired it all up and connected the cable to the dish(that was the easy bit).
I have tried to adjust the dish to the information that you previously sent me (thanks).
Unfortunatley I am not receiving anything,
On the receiver box under Antenna Setup there are two siganl strength boxes:

1 signal intensity................. 45%
2 signal quality.................... 4-5%.
I assume that to get any strength indicators must be a good sign.
I am pretty sure that the receiver is setup to receive Freesat.
I have been adjusting the dish for quite a while now with no success.
Has anyone any suggestions.

Thanks tdc.

You need to get the signal quality readings a lot higher before you can scan any channels in and discover which satellite you're on.
Are youi trying to get Astra 2, 28.2E?
What size dish do you have?
Which channel/frequency are you using for those readings?

Thanks for the reply.
I am living in northern Germany close to the Danish border. I am have a Freesat receiver which I understand needs Astra 2. The dish is 80cm.
I have just had the opportunity to set the receiver up in a mobile home which has a auto. satellite system. The system seemed to find Astra 2 but did not lock onto it. We then used the manual search and were able to get a signal.

Signal intensity.............................90%
Signal quality...............................35% - 50%.
As far as the channel/ frequency I am using. I am not sure.
I hope this info is helpful. tdc

sorry, I should have added that although we got a better percentage reading we still did not get any pictures.

Do you know anyone close that is receiving Astra 2, 28.2E? They should be able to tell you which frequency/channel has the strongest signal for your area. Did you try skewing the LNB? Turning it slightly to get the best signal.

Unfortunatley all the people around us receive Astra 1 for the German channels.
How can I find the channel/ frequency I am using.
Can I confirm with you that when I received the 90% and 35 to 50% when I used the auto system on the camper it must have been Astra 2.
I do not want to keep trying the house dish if there is no signal. The camper will be back next week so I can try it again.
What sort of percentage readings are needed to get pictures.
Thanks tdc

It depends on the receiver as to how much signal quality is required to get a picture, or scan for channels, I would try to get it stable at over 50%.
Are you sure your dish is correctly alignes to 28.2E and not on 26E?
Check the link for a full listing of FTA channels on 28.2E:
Code:
http://www.lyngsat.com/28east.html

If you click on the Beam listing, on the right, you will get a map showing the beam and the approximate size of dish required.

Did you try skewing the LNB? Rotating it to improve the signal.
