Nilesat 103 is a marketing name for either the old Atlantic Bird 4 (Hotbird 4) or its replacement 4A (Hotbird 10). The new bird is NS 201 (with 202 also in production).

Who knows. The satellite has already been delivered to the Ariane 5 launch facility so as long as there is no problem with the launcher or weather it will be on time.

Two launches ago there were delays with the launcher, which was carrying Astra 3B, and the delays ran into several months. That launch was followed by the launch of Arabsat 5A, which did not have similar problems.

Arabsat 5A was 3 days late taking off due to pressurisation problems ;)

is there anywhere i can watch the launch or get updates/news on it?

There has now been talks that AD Sports will be launched on the same 7W As showtime, so if you got showtime your get AD Sports... Not sure how legit it is.

But If they put it on Nilesat 201, I really hope it launches ok and i can get it

Launch details will be here:

They do a webstream and an email reminder service as well if you are so interested

on english newsleters i read one month ago, that osn will change all channels from currencly normal dvb into hd tv,how it looks, the new nilesat with his special beam, will only transmit hd channels, and when signal is so weak like ab 4 what i belive at the moment, with normal dish sizes no one in europe can receive!

Hi mate,

I dont understand what you mean, are you saying you believe nilesat 201 will be as weak as ab4?

Well, launch is planned for =http://satlaunch.blogspot.com

Nilesat 201 footprints published at =http://satlaunch.blogspot.com/p/launch-schedule-2010.html

Back to the old Nilesats for a moment.

Just managed to get most of the Nilesat vertical tranponders on an 85cm Hirschman dish (82 cm wide), quite impressive for such a small dish, of course it had the help of the Black Ultra. Only got a sniff with A N other LNB. Also managed to get a sniff of a handful of horizontals.

yes this dish have very good quality, one year ago i got with this dish 11512 h from hellas east beam also!
,do you have the offset or the pfa version?
i found a half year ago,the pfa dish in old trash container, very good material!
i think this dish performs like a "bad" 1.20m dish!

art/add sending on this freqencys, signal is lower then on osn showtime!

Its the offset one. Yes the performance was better than a bad 1.2m Fortec that I had to align a year or so ago, think it might have been a bit distorted though.
